Gervinho is good at separating from his defender even when we do play a high line and shorten the field. Theo could learn a lot from him in that regard. I can't remember the last time Theo had more than 2 successful 1v1's in a match.

How about Santos bringing the ball up and attacking with Gervinho? That should really open things up on the left hand side.

Yeah but Cesc is arguably a top 3 CAM in the world, probably the best when it comes to goal scoring opportunity creation.
Losing him is like losing a vital organ and trying to sustain life with an iron lung instead.

Maybe, but traditionally the left side of defense has been our achilles the last few seasons. Could have to do with Clichy, could be a systematic flaw, maybe both.

Is fabregas that good? Over the last few seasons xavi and iniesta have been better. Even in the world cup. He is #3 for me on barca.
Arsenal wins games without him and lose with him. I think we did enough to make the team better. Getting per and santos will go along way for arsenal.

Cesc arguably did more with less, the other two were surrounded by better talent fitting their quick passing philosophy. As for the national team they are both older and were already mainstays keeping them as the starters. The talent gap isn't all that big really.

They're all 3 asked to do different things positionally. However at 24 years old Cesc already has more goals an assists than both Xavi and Ineistas career totals. That factoid doesn't attest to a measuring stick end-all, be-all of quality, but it is a significant point when you consider lethal, match winning players

Cesc is just so much more direct. Iniesta is a better dribbler. Xavi the better passer. But Cesc plays early balls better than anyone in the world. His vision is unbelievable. If he was faster, he would be on another level. Sadly he's really slow.

Full highlights of the England U21 match. Some really good stuff from Lansbury and AOC. Lansbury's first goal was awesome. AOC was pumping in dangerous crosses and had some nice dribbles too. The future is bright with he and Miyachi on the wings.

He is a different player than Xavi. All it takes is watching him with Spain's national team. A lot more goal scoring opportunities when Cesc is on the pitch. I have been saying this since the dark ages when soccer threads were on the MSB.

I thought it was quite clear in Euro 2008 that Spain played better when Cesc was on the pitch. That was probably even before I posted on this site.
