I just don’t think Gyokeres is good enough for the level we need and never will be. I’m just curious to see if and when they cut their losses.

Ekitike was the CF for us. Closest to an Henry regen I've seen.

Probably would have left us without Eze, but Ekitike was the guy to get

The 3 pts is great and all, but we've been playing like dogshit for a few weeks now. Hopefully we can chalk it up to tired likes, but feels like the tactical decisions have been shite too.

Should have started the guys that played Villa today and vice versa.

I know he's coming off an injury and looked decent for like 3 attacks, but I'm out on Vik. I hope they sell him in the summer. Just does not fit our attack.

Sell him, sign Mohamed Meite from Rennes. He's like Kai on steroids. Can distribute AND dominate the box

also, the Merino OOP session was tragic, and part of the reason why we were so easy to play through. Guy is a good stand in CF, but man he sucks everywhere else

AND play Odegaard and Eze together against low blocks.

Eze 1 of like 3 or 4 people that can actually dribble around folks

Sucks that slot might be realizing this too. But hilarious that pool spent that money they did on isak.

Ekitike is a dude. You were screaming his name from the get go.

This seems premature

I find it wild that people here are dogpiling on Gyokeres after less than half a season. Who are we, Chelsea fans? When he’s been healthy he’s been an absolute bear for opposing CBs to deal with and has completely opened up our wing play for the better. He hasn’t had a consistent run of games, has dealt with injuries, and is adapting to a new team and a new league. People wanted to cut bait from Havertz before he came good, and I’ve even seen similar sentiment about Noni on Reddit lately (before the club Brugge game at least). The man dropped a hat trick on city in the CL FFS. Give him time.

I don't get it. Vik made some great runs yesterday and works his arse off. He's a wrecking ball and we face low blocks unlike everyone else. Settle the frick down

For real. I can’t wait to come back to these posts later and see how poorly they’ve aged. Give me your downvotes, they only validate me more

People saying (before the half way mark) that we should get rid of him at the end of his first season? frick outta here

Prime example of not knowing ball, as the kids say.

But my words don’t do it justice, so here’s an article from the BBC: Why Gyokeres offers more than just goals to Arsenal

quote:

Arteta believes the 27-year-old makes the Gunners "a much better team", explaining his signing has made them "much more unpredictable", pinpointing his athleticism and work-rate as stand-out attributes.

"He's so physical and the way he presses the ball, and holds the ball, that's phenomenal," the Spaniard said after the victory in the Champions League.

Arteta's view that Gyokeres offers more than just goals is supported by the data, particularly when it comes to winning the ball back in advanced positions.

Gyokeres ranks top in the Premier League for applying 'high pressure' in the final third (defined by Opta as getting within 2m of an opponent), recording 199 such actions.

He likewise leads the way in high pressures applied in the opposition penalty area.

To those saying he doesn’t fit how we want to play, Mikel apparently thinks otherwise, and the statistics validate him.

He makes more off-ball runs into the opposition box than any other forward in the league. The goals will come when our midfielders start to find him more often, but judging him now solely based on his goal output is missing the forest for the trees.

The real problem with him is that he cannot generate chances for himself. Completely reliant on service, and he is often not in the right place when he needs to be.

I'm willing to give him time, but he's got to step it up

It's a bigger issue when we playing a super low block team like yesterday

I am so excited to not have a mid-week game. Really need to get going again. The next few games will determine our season.

We dropped points last year against our next 4 PL games. Time to nut up.

vs Brighton
vs Villa
At Bournemouth
vs Liverpool

Also I hope we take those upcoming cup games seriously. Our back-ups are good enough to win both competitions. A team that is so desperately in need of silverware. Go and win the FA and Carabao Cups!

Villa and City scored 6 goals today with a combined expected goals of 1.82.

City was outplayed by almost a goal on expected goals and won 3-0.

Hopefully over the course of six months this catches up to them
