Arsenal fans are entitled to feel cheated by the club's lack of activity in the transfer market, says Paul Merson.

Boss Arsene Wenger only added goalkeeper Petr Cech to his squad this summer and the Arsenal Supporters' Trust reacted by issuing a statement, criticising the club's transfer policy.

The Gunners were linked with a big-money move for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema during the window but no deal materialised.

Merson told Sky Sports News HQ that Arsenal's lack of activity is unfair to the fans who pay to watch the team each week.

"It cheats the fans," said Merson. "The fans think 'what are we coming for? We turn up every week, we pay the highest prices and what for? Top four? We might get a day out at Wembley again in the FA Cup.' Wow-wee.

Supporters' Trust Demands Board Review After Quiet Summer

It never hurts having vocal fan organizations keeping the brain trust honest.

BTW, I don't follow Serie A. How is Woj faring?

Giroud has proven to be much more effective when he isn't expected to carry the majority of minutes up front throughout the season.

Woj has looked good so far I believe, he made a huge save in injury time last week against Juve to preserve the three points.

So they knew last week Welbeck would undergo surgery and miss a few months and still failed to add anybody? There is no excuse for that.

Everyone in this thread was talking just yesterday about how the market was bad and we didn't actually need anyone

That was under the assumption Welbeck would be back after the break, as Wenger said publicly. Giroud, Welbeck, and Theo isn't great, but it's enough.

Instead, Welbeck be out 'for months,' which means they don't know how long he'll be out.

Until then, we have Giroud or we can play Theo, Alexis, or Campbell out of position.

That's it. We've loaned out Sanogo and Chuba.

It's the same thing with our center backs last season. Our slow start, fueled by playing a fullback at centerback, cost us a chance at the title. Same thing could happen up top this year.

We only have seven points after four games. We would have 3 points and no wins if it weren't for those two game winning own goals.

Wow, so much for challenging for the title this year. Can't believe we didn't bring in a single outfielder, especially since they knew about Welbecks injury

yeah this hurts. we should have gone and got a striker. he doesn't have to be better than giroud, but maybe just as good. that isn't hard to find.

Walcott will be good for some teams, but he just disappears from matches too easily. regardless of where he is playing. so really we don't have another good option to giroud. and the for months could easily mean welbeck could be out til next year or even next season.

Whats the status of Ozil for Saturday?

I haven't watched Stoke yet this season, but generally they pack it in, and currently they are in the relegation zone. So we can expect 70% possession or so I'm guessing. Given that will Giroud start up top, or opt for Walcott again?

I'm doing a stat collection on Giroud and Walcott, because I'm bored.

Here's what I have from this season.

Some of Walcott's touch numbers are incredible. Against Chelsea, in the Charity Shield, he played 65 minutes and had 13 touches.

Giroud played 25 minutes and had 17 touches.

It's incredible how Theo can vanish from a game.

yeah we play the 12th. International break.

said his knee was hurt. of course there was speculation we were selling him because he didn't play.

Ozil is a great player, but he needs to look to score more. I think that's why I don't like the Ramsey cazorla axis. you need Ramsey making runs into the box and scoring. which would leave you with just cazorla protecting the back 4.

Welbeck's out for months? Well frick this gay earth.

I guess that's the reason we kept Campbell, a player Wenger seems utterly reluctant to even give a chance to. I imagine he will be our emergency striker.

We might as well buy back Afobe.

It seems pretty clear to me that Arsenal as a club do not give a hot gay frick what the fans think.

I mostly wish Kroneke would be more of a sugar daddy. I mean, we sorta have that Wal-Mart money. Just pay down our debt. Or guarantee our debt so we have an extra 25 to spend. It kills me that all this talk about 2013 when the new deals kick in, we only have 50 mil to spend each window, more or less.
