Thanks for the awesome analysis on that article. Seriously. I consider the SB lucky to have guys like you, and all the better that you're an Arsenal fan so I can get this kind of analysis on the team I watch every match.

I really hope there is a reasonable striker available in this summer window. Giroud is not good, in fact he's kind of bad. I know he's played way too many minutes this year but he's honestly not the answer up top with this team. Özil needs pace to work with and people who can make runs. Theo being out and Giroud who can't make runs really hinder the abilities of the best player on this side.

The way strikers are so overinflated in today's transfer windows really leaves me concerned. A real option up top would make this team so much more lethal. Giroud had multiple opportunities to put chances away today and squandered them like always. I'm trying to be patient but Giroud is simply just not that great.

I'm not going to rag Giroud because he is forced to be the only player in the box. We saw this shite with rvp, and even he couldnt do it all. Really like our players but we have to spend. You need world class players riding the pine. All the top clubs do. Our best players always get hurt and we are left with guys that are just OK.

Just pisses me off we can't beat united when they are down, yet they can walk all over us when we are.

Erm he's tired for 3rd with Suarez, who runs away with clear cut chances created (the more important statistic). Just looked up some stats and Ozil isn't even in the top 5 in the league in terms of "big chances" created. He's created 63 chances overall, Suarez with 61.

I feel bad for jack. He seems to be keeping his head of late, but these refs just allow the teams to play hack a jack. It will ruin his career. He was fouled 4-5 times before the yellow finally came out.

my mistake. assist numbers must've been pulled from an older source.

yeah, it doesn't surprise me that he isn't as high on clear cut or bigger chances. they haven't been there for us. he's as good at spotting those opportunities as anyone, but we don't have runners getting into good positions.

I thought he played really well today but I'm not sure he created any big chances besides the corner.

Somebody refresh my memory. How does the summer transfer window work in a World Cup year? Does it open on July 1 like usual and teams can sign players even while the World Cup is going on?

Of course I would never throw in the towel on this season or whatever when we still have everything to play for in all of the competitions. You just can't help but see it starting to slip away little by little these last few weeks with Theo's injury, Ramsey being out long-term, not doing anything in the January window, getting pasted at Liverpool and now not scoring a goal in 180+ minutes against a crap United side this year and missing a great chance to go back top of the league today. We've just let so many good opportunities go by the wayside this year.

If Wenger does show ambition again and brings in a really top class striker, along with maybe another piece or two, in the summer and we get Theo back healthy and ready to go, you just can't help but be very optimistic about the state of our club going forward.

But here's hoping first that we get it turned back around this season and push on for everything we have to play for! Need to get some payback against Liverpool on Sunday!

Today we were simply not good enough. United were there for the taking. But we don't have any cutting edge. We have good players making good decisions but creating what amounts to half chances. We needed something else and we didn't have it. Cazorla has played supremely well of late, and is linking more and more with Ozil. If we are to have any title challenge we will straight up need Ozil to carry us on his back until Ramsey returns. He simply has to be better.

Today Man U boxed in Giroud so he was playing with his back from goal for no reason. He couldn't act as a pivot, and we were basically denied access to the mouth of the 18.

We should have scored, just as Man U should have, but a draw is a fair result for how we are playing.

We aren't playing badly (outside the errata that was the 'Pool game). We just aren't playing good enough.

We desperately need some god damn runners. It's like I'm watching the 2008 team when Fabregas was injured and before we bought Arshavin.

after watching yesterday's match, I'm thinking the only way özil can carry us any more is by being more direct and trying to score.

I'm curious to see what we do Sunday. surely AW has to change something.

I was actually coming on this morning to post something similar. I was listening to the Football Show on the way to work this morning and they had this guy on that was the head writer for Ars Blog. After talking to him for 20 mins I found myself thinking that he didn't tell me anything I didn't already know. Now, I'm not the most informed soccer fan, so I started wondering how I actually knew what he would say before answering questions. I realized it's because I get all my info on here and apparently, it's all top notch. Keep up the good work, Gooners.

I was a little baffled on why he took out Rosicky. To me, he's one of the few midfielders we have that makes runs and is always trying to attack. I was disappointed when he came off, because I always get excited when he is given the ball.

Rosicky brings pace and uptempo to the side and needs to start. In fact if rather them have started gnabry and put ozil on the bench. Yeah you spent the bank.on him, but he ain't helping us if he's tired out there.

Couple of times he and rosicky should have shot the ball to only pass it one more time and lose it. shite is very frustrating. This more of a problem with wengers tactics.

I don't think Ozil will ever shoot from outside the box. I don't know if it isn't in his game or not, but he always passes even when it appears that he has a shooting lane.

False.

FIFY

Giroud's game works very well in this team when we have the likes of Walcott and Ramsey making the necessary runs. It suffers when we get stagnant in the final third like we have been lately.

he clearly wasn't fully fit yesterday. misplayed passes on multiple break opportunities. i was cool with him coming off, especially since we have a glut of matches. he was playing worse than santi and ozil. surprised we didn't throw poldi or sanogo out there late, but part of that was likely from concern they could hit us on the break.

We've got no excuses regarding funding now.

As someone said, we need world-class players coming off the bench.

I don't think it's unrealistic to expect one of the top clubs in the world to be able to contend yearly for multiple trophies.

At present, our roster just doesn't have the depth to do that and I don't think I'm being an unrealistic fan when I say this is very disappointing.

I think this is the key for us in the summer. There are no excuses now going forward.

I believe last summer was just a start for the club and a real show of intent by signing Ozil. Do you think he would have really agreed a deal with Arsenal if he wasn't convinced of Wenger's plan (hopefully) to add even more pieces to the squad in future windows? I've got to believe they had those discussions before Ozil's transfer was finalized.

That obviously doesn't do anything for us for the rest of this season. But when I see that Wenger really is able to let himself spend money like he did to land Ozil, I can't help but look forward to the summer transfer window this year and think that we'll add a couple of world-class players to the squad and be in an even better position to compete for trophies in 2014-15.

With all that said, we do support Arsenal and we all know that it's likely to go down to the last day or two of the summer window without us having signed anyone yet.

Here's hoping Wenger will go out and do the business that is needed!
