I can see that. Our midfield completely dominated them in the first match at the Emirates.

What was our lineup last time we played them?

szcz
baccy-per-kos-gibbo
arteta-rambo
rosicky-özil-santi
giroud
would imagine it will be the same but with Jack or The Ox in instead of Rambo.
we should have a much stronger bench than last time though

Good news. Who needs a striker?
22:10 until kick off. I'm really getting pumped for this match. Should be highly entertaining.

yeah no question. curious to see if they go with a more attacking midfield 3 of gerrard/cou/henderson or if allen starts instead of cou. gerrard at DM versus quite possibly the best player in the world in terms of off the ball movement will be an interesting matchup for sure. there could be a lot of space for Jack or Ox to run into. conversely, they'll have a lot of space to run into due to the naivety of Jack/Ox re: defensive positioning.
part of me wishes Serge would starts because Cissokho isn't exactly one to be feared when making an attacking run. he's pretty good defensively too. still, i think we go for a more midfield heavy approach. if we're chasing the game late, poldi and serge will be nice to have.
Flanagan played well vs us last time, but Santi is in much better form now.
will be interesting to see who starts between Monreal and Gibbs. i'd personally like to see Gibbs, but Monreal's runs into the box are better and could catch out Sterling if he isn't paying attention.
kos and per will have to be at their best, particular kos since he'll be coming out to press suarez/sturridge more.
a loss wouldn't be catastrophic by any means, but we really need to get a result if we want to have a shot at the title.

No question. The Pole in the goal is going to have to have a good match as well.

Szcz has to be up for best GK of the year IMO (so far at least) in the BPL. he's improved a whole lot. our defensive tactics pretty much invite teams to take shots from distance because we're so comfortable with his shot saving ability.
his close range save vs Palace last week was incredible.

Shot stopping isn't a problem, it is him having a "Jens moment" that worries me.

Man, everyone was calling for szcz head last season
I've been saying that szcz has the best shot stopping ability in the league and is very good in the air, but he you can tell he lacks the mental discipline due to his youth in the league

it's goal so i take it with a grain of salt, but, if true, i don't blame them. not a terribly ludicrous offer. personally i'd have valued Theo a little higher than 25m in August in this economy, especially since he's British and 24. 65m was too much for Suarez in the fall IMO. maybe in the 55m-60m range.
though if they ragged us for bidding 40m (even though we clearly though it'd trigger something), they should be ragged for countering with an equally imbalanced bid.
now, though, Suarez's value has gone way up and Theo's is on shakier ground due to his injury.

Anyone know who's going to be broadcasting the game tomorrow morning? My NBCSports is just showing the Olympics all day and don't see it on ESPN, Fox, etc.
ETA: HA! Just found it, apparently it's been bumped to USA.

Damn, considering theo's injury situation this year that would've been a good deal in hindsight. But there was no way of knowing at the time, plus I love Theo.

We would have had the cash to do that deal and Ozil, but it is interesting to think what would have happened had we have gotten Suarez first.

I don't think you can say he's "youthful" in this league.
This is his third year as a starter.
The bonehead plays should start to be less and less.

Santi on a visit to his beloved Real Oviedo, talking to the li´l nippers at a summer camp.
Big match tomorrow (stay on top, keep potential contenders at bay and all that). Good luck.

bah
Santi was still at Villareal, and had just signed with Málaga, if I´m not mistaken.
