The thing about having a hold up guy like Giroud (and let's be honest, he does a phenomenal job) is that you need people making runs off of him for it to be truly useful. We just don't have that. Santi and Ozil aren't going to be outrunning anybody.

Honestly though, Giroud was outplaying higuain. Well until the goal. Thing about giroud is he needs better service than what he was getting. hes not going to create chance for himself. But his hold up play is phenomenal. Did you see when he took that ball down on the sideline then split the defenders? The shitty ref called it out, but that was some skillz rt there.

I'm not trying to imply Giroud should be replaced by another striker. We just need someone for games like that who can get in behind the defense. Theo should presumably be that guy, either up top or with Giroud up top and from the wing.

Agree, and that's been Arsenals problem over the last several years. Never having a full squad to work with. So what was theos deal? Got sick? Its pretty alarming the rate we can't keep players healthy.

So since it's close to that time what's the plan for this coming transfer window? Will Wenger be passive and just treat Podolski, Walcott, and Ox returning to fitness finally like new transfers?

If Arsenal did go for a 2nd striker who would they possibly go after? I just don't see Wenger putting Walcott up top multiple times.

i don't think we'll bring anyone big in. just a few moves for the future, i'd imagine. looks like we'll poach highly rated Barça youngster Tonny Sanabria (striker) in January.

That it is. 14 1/2 hours to go. Thankfully my son has a game tonight at 7:00. Won't drink too much tonight. Ready for some early morning fun at Finn's.

Podolski healthy but not match fit for this intense of match. AW is optimistic regarding Sagna. We could really use him this weekend. Hate to have to use Jenkinson against the big boys.

ETA: Sorry if old news

Well, we obviously got our asses kicked playing some shitty defense, but hey, that can happen playing on the road against Man Shitty. Our top-of-the-table defensive stats definitely got blown to hell.

Biggest concerns going forward: what's the butcher's bill? How bad are JW and LK injuured?

When did Jack get injured?

Hopefully Kos isn't out for long. He was sitting with the rest of the team after he went off so that's promising I guess.

multiple games

Doubt it.

He'll probably get a game, just like most trashy gestures. I think Rooney got two for yelling "frick Off" at the cameras.

There is a precedent in place in this scenario, as Luis Suarez received a one-match ban for a similar offense during a Liverpool game against Fulham in 2011. Months prior to that, Wayne Rooney tried – and failed - to appeal a two-match ban for swearing in good range of a TV camera after scoring a hat-trick for Manchester United against West Ham.

we got it handed to us, but there were some questionable offsides calls and really could have been back in it if the ref calls zabaletas handball.

But i think the tired legs just hit us at the wrong time. Hopefully we can recover and pray that city continue their terrible away form.

I think Jack will be a good player, hes just immature. Not ready to be a star and needs to take a page out of ramseys book on how to act like a professional.

Oh okay. I was watching the game on laptop while grading papers and missed that. I admittedly didn't see much after MC went up 3-1.

I saw on the matchday thread: "expect Wilshere to be out at least three games" and thought it was an injuury.

Hey, want to contribute to the "write the world cup" thread I posted earlier? I'll find the link and post it here if you do. I was hoping to see some of your writing talents on display for at least one of the world cup groups.

Also, here is Kos' injury:
