Hector looks slow. Where's the blistering pace he used to have?

So far, and it is too early I know, this defense is about as vulnerable and prone to bone headed mistakes as last year. El-Nene
is just not good.

I thought Sokratis has been solid. Bellerin has been a horror show. I think he's just having a bad day. Mustafi is still a liability. Kola struggles defensively. Hopefully Monreal has another good season in him.

Bellerin seems to get a little worse each year. I used to think he was a future star.

The "Visit Rwanda" advertisement is such a Stan Kroenke thing to do. Will next year be "Sail Somali Cruise lines?"

Nice way to get a draw right at the end (ignoring the penalties).

Lot of positives today.

I like Guendouzi a lot. He looks like he could compete for PT right now. I'm hopeful that Ainsley Maitland-Niles will get a look as well, as he's still a superb prospect.

Yeah I didn't know shite about Guendouzi before the ICC but he's legit calm with the ball at his feet. Makes great passes.

He looks awkward as hell when he's on the ball, like he's about to perpetually trip over. His passing is good though, and yeah, he's really calm and confident on the ball.

The defense worries me again, like really worries me.

Guendouzi looks very poised, and has sharp passing ability. My one knock on him is that he doesn't play physically enough. The premiership is probably the most physical league there is, and he goes down far too often.

Yea we haven't looked great defensively so far but it will take time for Emery to coach out all the bad habits our guys have had instilled in them during Arsene's final years.

Another thing is we have yet to see is our team with Torreira protecting the back 4. I believe as the season moves along we will improve defensively. I just hope it doesn't take too long and put us as a disadvantage for top 4.

There is that, but I also worry about the individual quality of the players. Sure Monreal is a big upgrade on the left, but Kola is quite literally a liability. Mustafi is IMO pretty garbage back there as well. I am just not all that optimistic about the defense, when I don't have faith in half of the players back there.

Our defense is suspect as hell but it won’t be worse than last year. Emery will solve some of our problems tactically and Torriera will protect the back 4.

Pleased with our front four. LMAO could be dynamic if we can afford to play them all together. Miki is super underrated right now. He and Ozil could pick teams apart together.

I’d like to see us let chambers and holding play together a bunch this year. They’re no worse than Mustafi and Sokratis who looks so heavy footed. And they have higher ceilings.

Also, I’d still like to see us give a diamond midfield a shot. It’s not like we have incredible width anyway.

Leno
Bellerin-CB-CB-Monreal
———Torreira————-
Ramsey———Xhaka
———Ozil—————-
Auba———Laca

If Auba keeps scoring from the left then 4-2-3-1 is great and we can get Mkhitaryan in for Xhaka or Torreria to go more attacking when needed.

I don't know if our fullbacks are good enough for the diamond. And functionally I'd wager we'd play like a 4-2-2-2 rather than a diamond, given Ramsey's proclivity to get forward and Xhaka's rather static movement. The two striker system works best when the front four are willing to provide width.
