What point are you making exactly? Are you arguing there is some conspiracy where English clubs purposefully don’t play Americans that they’ve paid millions of pounds for, simply out of spite? That’s grasping at straws.

I’m talking about English fans. Everyone seems to get that but you.

It was very obvious that Hudson-Odoi could drop a stinker and not be judged as harshly as Pulisic for a comparable performance. And there were games where Havertz/Mount/etc. would be dogshit for about 80 minutes, but Pulisic would come on and take more criticism from fans/social media than either of them if Chelsea failed to score, despite having far less of an opportunity.

Nobody is saying Pulisic was Chelsea’s best player. But there was a very clear attitude among the fans that he was somehow beneath the club.

I suspect English fans (at least the ones I know or have met) were just sick of the constant hype simply because of the country he was born. As if being American means you are Superman. True supporters want to win trophies. They don’t care how or with who. No one was booing Kante or Hazard because they weren’t English.

CP had his chance. He had moments of brilliance, mixed in with a lot of mediocrity and getting pushed around. I truly don’t believe he is cut out for the Prem. Remember, no other English clubs showed interest in him. If he’s this true prodigy, as OU Guy claims, you would have clubs lining up to sign him.

And if you’re confused by my posts, remember that this earlier poster said the reason Pulisic was sold is because he was a “scapegoat” for bad management. No way to prove any of that nonsense, and Timo was sold long before CP.

Its a typical American mindset. 12+ players were sold off, but yeah, CP was the scapegoat.

So, like, a bias against him because he’s American? Are you tracking the noncoherence of your arguments here or nah?

Isn’t he still the youngest foreigner to score in the bundesliga? Well he’s now playing for a better team than Chelsea, one that almost made it to the CL final last year, and was their clear MOTM in their first game.

Chelsea fans also thought Salah and De Bruyne weren’t good enough for the prem. I suspect the Pulisic hate will age just as well.

I literally mentioned that earlier in this thread. But that unquestionably wasn't the only reason for the excessive criticism he got.

This was about attitude towards Americans. Not anybody who isn't English. And you picked two of the clubs best players in recent memory. Obviously we aren't saying Pulisic would have been booed if he was the player of the year.

Nobody is saying that is the reason he was sold. Just that he was often a scapegoat. And you're coming here with this "typical American mindset" seemingly completely oblivious to the perception of Chelsea and its fans. You realize a whole bunch of those players who were sold wanted to get out at all costs, right?

Slow your brain and try to understand.

No. They were sick of bias FOR him simply because he was American. You don’t get a benefit of the doubt simply because of where you are born. You earn your respect on the pitch.

And before you call me a hater, several years ago I bought my son a CP kit. I really did root for the guy. But I care more about winning trophies than rooting for a nation like it’s the World Cup.

It's nice that he scored a goal in Serie A. He needed a softer slower league. The guy has missed 32 games in the last two years and obviously wasn't going to unseat the Chelsea midfielders Gallagher and Kante. They didn't play him out of position; he wasn't good enough and/or healthy enough to be their best option at AM.

I don’t disagree with the first part of your post, but the players you listed for comparison are weird (especially considering one is a defensive midfielder currently playing in Saudi Arabia). Also, he was frequently played out of position. Not always, of course, but often.

It’s pretty simple when you boil it down. Chelsea is a shitty run club. All the money and no vision. Just smash and grab to finish mid-table.

lol. huge spin job there. taking a pay cut and a move to serie a in his prime is a career set back. the fact you cant even admit that is the CP fan bois experience in a nut shell.

You mean. Like doing this…
named man of the match in the second leg of the quarterfinal, then had a goal and an assist in the semifinals

True supporters want to win trophies.

Isn’t the champions League trophy (that CP helped to win) a trophy?

I think BOTH CP is overrated
AND was treated like shite by Chelsea fans just because he was American.

Jealous of the lovely teeth perhaps

The premiere league is much rougher than other leagues. He's just too slight to thrive there. Plus you're playing against the best players in the world. He'll thrive in a lesser league like Serie A with lesser talent

I’m not going to argue that Serie A is better than the EPL, because it isn’t, but 3 out of 4 teams in the CL semi’s last season were Serie A. EPL is definitely a rougher league. The talent drop off is mainly notable in the mid to lower table teams, otherwise I think teams like Inter, Milan, Juve, Napoli, Atalanta, Fiorentina could hold their own.

ETA: I do agree Pulisic should excel in Serie A, but that’s more due to the style of play. I’m excited to see him play more - so long as he reverts to his Chelsea self against Inter.

I could be wrong, but I think Gio Reyna broke that record.

Don’t believe so, Pulisic was 16 when he scored. I don’t think Gio debuted for BVB until he was 17

This Milan team has the potential to be very special. It'll be interesting to see who they're drawn with next week for Champions league. Pulisic (and Musah) could've fallen right into a dream situation.
