Yes he was fine - he did yeoman's work for us. Besler and Cameron had the critical derps that lead to goals.

Everyone acts like our midfield and attackers make it so easy on our backline. Our amount of possession in the midfield is AIDS. Gonzo and Besler were under siege the entire 200+ minutes vs Germany and Belgium.
Also JJ has a pretty bad game against Belgium. Midfield was awful

Cameron should have never been in the midfield the experiment with im in there and gonzo paired with besler didn't work.
They were out of sync, we had a unit that was working and messed with it and it backfired.

We should have kept Beckerman in. If we wanted to really go for it offensively we should have put Cameron at RB and FJ at RW and played a 4-2-3-1.

Unfortunately i agree.. Even though i thought cameron did alright.
Anyone not giving Tim Howard an A+, Fab Johnson at least an A-, and Beasley at least a B+ is not doing this correctly. Those three players played great
Tim howard maybe made one glaring mistake and he immediately saved himself (when it hit off the post and he should have caught it)
Fabian played outstanding. played well defensively and was as much as a consistent offensive as anyone else on the team
DmB played better than i could have ever expected. Hustled and never really messed up defensively
Other than that Jones, Yedlin, Beckerman, Bradley should all get good marks as well.
Omar should not get as low as indicated by some but I don't necessarily think he or Besler played that well in this cup and definitely did not play well yesterday

Do you think Landon Donovan would have seriously changed the possession time to the United States' benefit? Would he have made passes that no other player could make, or held the ball allowing better offensive opportunities? I don't think so. But I do think his athleticism would have allowed him to be on the receiving end of some passes that our lesser athletes were beaten to. And the threat of his athleticism would have forced defensive adjustments from our opponents.

yea I actually agree. I was impressed with how he played. Plus they were bombarded for 80 minutes against Ghana and 90 minutes against germany and for 80 minutes against belgium.
But yesterday that was awful. They both looked like they had tired legs and looked slow. Granted they did not receive much help.
That unfortunately is still stuck in my mind ya know

Donovan has smart movement and a great poacher's instinct as well. He can also still beat people on the dribble and play a killer pass. He would have been useful in Brazil, imo.
