interesting... you expect him to see much playing time? I though Juve would want to hold on to him.. he has looked pretty good...

at what?

sterling creates a shite ton of space and that's all he's being asked to do at this point. he creates a lot of corners and fouls on the wing

that is all he's being asked to do and he's doing it. i'm sure his role will advance over time. he's still very young

Silva and Nasri work well together even though they both operate in similar space

Then why do you need KdB?

You don't need KDB to offer width.

You don't need him taking up space in the middle where all your other best players already are.

Plus Silva won't play every game.

80m is a lot of money for improved depth.

I would have preferred a natural box to box or DLP to replace Yaya in games, but I easily see ways KDB fits into the team. Pretending like he won't is just wishful thinking.

When you spend that much money it should be for a more proven player, a better player, and a player that fills an immediate need. Not a guy who can add depth when Silva is out and can probably find a way to fit in the team.

You're going to win the League easily without him and I certainly don't think he's going to help you in Europe where you have to be more pragmatic.

Again, with that said I admire the commitment to target a player and do whatever it takes to make it happen. Really wish our board would have done the same.

let me just say, i think the KdB stuff is just foolish. they want depth and an eventual silva replacement. since Isco isn't an option, there isn't a "value buy" replacement so tehy're going for a Galactico

KdB is also going to be kind of a jack of all trades, like milner was. he's goign to play wide left, wide right, centrally, and probably in yaya's role at times. with the injury history and depth needs, you can make an argument

now, will he be happy with that?

lol he isn't a top 20 player in the world, might not even be top 50. Just because you spend a ton of money on a player doesn't make him a galactico but I think you're right in that is what City are thinking.

1. Youth
2. UCL - midfield is a big reason City has failed there.

i'm not a big fan of the signing. what really annoys me is that some italian team, likely juve, is going to get silva next year for a bargain

i think KdB is going to be like AdM was for man U, an absolute failure of a transfer that leads to the team losing 10M+ on the resell

It ill be really hard to recover any money from a player at that cost, if it doesn't work out... Man U took a pretty big hit on AdM and I think he's a much better player than KdB...

I think De Brunye will be good and will certainly allow City to keep Silva fresher.

However, bringing up midfield balance in the CL against the few elite squads City wants to challenge is the reason some people are a bit critical of the move.

My broad generalization would be that EPL sides seem caught in an arms race for trequartiste type attacking "midfielders" that flourish in the wide open EPL but don't have the positional discipline and defensive grittiness CL success demands when too many of them are played together.

Most don't think De Brunye will be a bust by any means but wonder if, say, a player like Kondogbia, would have helped City more in the CL than adding another Silva/Nasri type, no matter how skilled.

He's starting to get really underrated on this board.

No doubt. He was the best player in the Bundesliga last season. He is a very good player and will be excellent for City and should help them where they really want to be good, in the UCL.

Any more news on Berahino? I know WBA kept him out of the squad yesterday. Plenty of teams could use that added depth.
