Is he really that much of a team cancer?
I wouldn't say a cancer, in the sense that he seems well liked by the other players..
But from most accounts, he's still just immature and doesn't train seriously, etc. So, I think BR has had it with him... I like him and think he could come good, but I kinda have to side with our manager on this one..

I think that the girlfriend's model pose in the middle of a normal family photo is what's throwing me off

According to WAZ, a local paper in Wolfsburg, De Bruyne has told Wolfsburg that he wants to leave. Rumored that City's offer could exceed 50 mil pounds and wages of 16 mil per season, compared to 11 mil that Wolfsburg was willing to increase KDB's wages to.
Otamendi deal is supposed to be wrapped up in 24 hours apparently. Probably means it won't happen until next week lol.

Mateo Kovacic assured during his unveiling that he is most at home operating as an anchorman, but will gladly play wherever he is asked to.
Playing position: "I'm most comfortable as a defensive midfielder, but it's up to the coach to decide."
Modric, the key to his signing: "I'm sure that Luka has done a lot to bring me here. He's a great friend and a brilliant player. I'm delighted to be able to share a dressing room with him."
On Benítez: "I've spoken to him and he welcomed me. I know him from his time at Napoli and I'm happy to have such a great coach."
Ronaldo fan: "They're all phenomenal, but the player I'm most excited about playing with is Ronaldo. He's the best and scores the most goals."
How his transfer transpired: "It happened in three or four days; it all went so quickly. An offer came in and they reached an agreement. I didn't have to think about it. We're very happy."

GREAT place to be in late Spring and Summer. Good football fans, as well.
Very good place for him to develop.

Inter is in some serious financial trouble. Could be looking at the beginning of a fire sale.
Unless I missed something I think Inter is in pretty decent shape?
Their new owner Thohir is investing funds and changing the focus to buying lots of younger talent and expanding revenue streams.
What they do have is a lot of debt and that's why they have been penalized by FFP due to not reducing it in the quantity FFP demands.
However, that kind of shows how absurd FFP is:
Inter "reduce debt" by selling Kovacic and buying Kondogbia for the same price becuase they can claim the entire €35m on Kovacic this calendar year but stagger the payments for Kondogbia.
If they don't make CL this year they'll do the same next summer if FFP is still in place: sell an expensive younger player to a club that runs a tight financial ship like Real Madrid to buy the expensive players they need right away. Remember Kovacic wasn't even a regular starter for them.

I feel like Kovacic is making the worst possible career move. He's a talented young guy but like you said, he didn't even lock down a full time spot at Inter. I understand the allure of Real Madrid but I wish some of these guys would show restraint.

Yeah, maybe it's just my preference as a fan but it would be so much better to see him actually playing every match for a mid-tier side in Italy, Spain or Germany for a couple of seasons than just going to sit on a even more prestigious bench until 2017.

The allure of Madrid is obviously great, but I think it's more of a young guy seeing it as a challenge. They don't think of it as, "oh, I barely started at Inter, I'll never play at Madrid!"
They see it as an opportunity to prove their worth. RM obviously see something in him, it would be foolish of almost any player to turn down a chance to compete with the best.

I think it would be foolish of almost any young player to actually accept a chance to compete with the best. Because that's all they'll do. Fight for a spot they'll never get and waste the most crucial days of their career watching from the bench, or even worse, the stands.

Yep. I understand maximizing wages in sports, but what happens when he isn't playing and left out of Croatia's Euro squad?

Modric: "Kovacic will win the Ballon d'Or in two years" The Croatia midfielder was instrumental in the decision to sign Mateo Kovacic. Florentino Pérez asked his opinion after the Inter friendly last month.
quote:
Mateo Kovacic on Wednesday was confirmed as a Real Madrid player until 2021. The latest addition to the Bernabéu squad will join his Croatia teammate Luka Modric at the club after the midfielder urged Real to sign Kovacic from Inter Milan. Florentino Pérez admitted as much during a chat with reporters while his new signing performed a few tricks in front of a thousand or so fans on the pitch. Pérez stated that the club had been on the 21-year-old's trail for some time and had been piling up a dossier of glowing reports for some time, but it was during the friendly match against Inter in Guanzhou last month that finally persuaded the board Kovacic was a player the club had to sign. After the Inter match, Pérez approached Modric to ask his opinion of his international teammate and received the reply: "Presi, he'll be the Ballon d'Or winner in two years." From there, Madrid started the process of capturing Kovacic's signature. The result was confirmed on Wednesday just after 1pm in the VIP box at the Bernabéu, where Pérez pointed to Modric as an example of what was expected from his new acquisition: "This is now your home. This club will be by your side and the fans will support you to the end if you give everything for this crest, as your international teammate Modric has done."
