Sterling looked good in that Italy game. Pretty sure the mirror had lukaku to Madrid at the start of the cup.
guess you can plug in any young player in England who is having a nice little run of form to Madrid per them.
I really hope Suarez and sterling stay so Liverpool accepts our bid on Borini.

Perhaps this is why there has been talks of a new contract with him (Raheem)... I hate this stuff, but it is what it is... Maybe a buyout clause..
If Shaw went for £30mm, I'm not sure what price tag I'd put on Raheem.. There is the difference of RM not really needing to pay the english premium.
Anyway, I hope he plays here for a long time and continues to develop...

25m for Sterling? That's ridiculous. No way Liverpool are that stupid.

I don't think we'd be tempted with that amount... I don't think Sterling would be ready for a move abroad quite yet either... He's still so young, that he may be ready and willing a few years down the line...

It would be great for his growth though. More young players need to do this or their national team will stay stuck in its rut.

I think it would stifle his growth... he wouldn't get much playing time there... He came on leaps and bounds last year under Brendan, who has been fantastic in coaching and developing our young guys...
I dont disagree with the overall notion for youth players, but he is now a first team regular for club and looking that way for country...

Yea I agree maybe a couple years away from a major move abroad. It would be similar to the CR7 leaving united type move. Same type of player elevating his career.

In general english youth need to look abroad to improve the teams technical nability , tactical awareness etc there is literally no diversity on the squad.

Now someone like Jordan Ibe will benefit from a loan and I wouldn't be opposed to it being overseas... Though, we seem to like to keep em close (unless they are foreign)...
He is one that many have pegged to reach bigger heights than Raheem, though that may be a tall order given Raheems development in the 2nd half of last season..

Yea he def is not living up to the price tag. Guys like him, Smalling and Clevs were sold as the future and just have not progressed and in some regards regressed.

Someone needs to go after Charles Aranguiz. He was easily up there with Vidal, Sanchez, and Medel this tournament for Chile. He was the man of the match against Spain and his pk shot goal yesterday...

Sorry if mentioned but saw Joe Gyau to Dortmund.

I think the EPL is on its way in the right direction though. The amount of teams emphasizing technicality is growing. Sure, they're still very direct, but there is a technical flare to that directness, ala LFC. With a proper manager for the English national team that ability could've been harnessed, but Roy is an absolute idiot.

quote:You thinking of the right person? Ibe came through the academy and was loaned out to Birmingham the second half of the season after being caught in limbo how Raheem was before he broke out. Too good for the academy games and not quite good enough to get games with the first team, since our attack was better and he wasn't thrust into the first team like Sterling and Suso.

Not to say he couldn't be a flop, but from most of his opportunities, he's looked pretty damn good. Very pacy with decent skill and a good shot with his right foot. He's bigger than Sterling too so I'm not worried much about his physicality and he would probably benefit more on a loan overseas to work on his technical skill and to break down defenders with something other than pure pace.

The Daily Mirror is reporting that Spurs are looking to make a bid on Swansea LB Ben Davies for around £8 million. It would be nice to to have Danny Rose there.

looks like debuchy will be sagna's replacement at arsenal.
meh. kinda disappointing. not bad, he just has never done much for me.

Not a fan of this move. His hair is terrible and will bring down the average beauty of the squad. Hopefully Ramsey's hair game stays on point, to balance things out.

Not sure how I feel about this tbh. He was starting to get first team time at Hoffenheim. Not sure why he would go back to the reserves.
