Really need to avoid 4th. Playoff could be Chile or Uruguay out of South America.

We need Panama to start fricking dropping some points.

Yeah the top 4 seems to be a lock at this point.

But someone is going to have a playoff. Of all the teams, Canada is the least likely to have to go to the playoffs imo.

I was high on this Canadian squad but never expected to say that.

Yep, which is why we need them to lose at Azteca in January and then they still have to come to us.

It's still ridiculous that we lost to them because of an olimpico and heavy roster rotation.

Maybe, but for as good as they are against good opponents, they are just as bad against bad opponents.

They play up or down to their competition, which could bite them with more road games than home games left on their schedule.

The only unforgivable thing Gregg has done through 8 games is that Panama roster selection.

Need to come away with 6 points from those 3 to feel at ease going into last window

The US has to get 7 points from its next window to feel any kind of ease. Anything short of 7 is a disappointment.

Let's just run the most logical scenario for the next window:

Matchday 9
- Canada draws at Honduras (Canada hasn't won on the road yet and actually drew at home to Honduras)
- USA wins at home over El Salvador
- Panama draws at Costa Rica
- Mexico draws at Jamaica

Matchday 10
- USA draws at Canada
- Mexico wins at home over Costa Rica
- Panama wins at home over Jamaica

Matchday 11
- Canada draws at El Salvador
- USA wins at home over Honduras
- Mexico wins at home over Panama

That would put the table at:

USA 22 pts
Mexico 22 pts
Canada 19 pts
Panama 18 pts

This may come down to the wire, because then for the March window, we start out with a trip to the Azteca while Panama hosts Honduras, if we lose and they win, we'd be hosting Panama three days later, just one point clear of them and needing a win to lock up a top 3 spot.

frick, this is a tad unnerving.

This is my 7th WCQ cycle, logical scenario is thrown out of the window with CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying

The only thing I would place money on is Panama coming in 4th. The have to play @Mex, @US and @CR (never won a WCQ there). 1 point max won't cut it as they will drop points in one of their other three home matches.

I can't get over how hilarious it is that Canada made Mexico play in these conditions

We should never play Mexico outside of the Northeast quadrant of the country.

I think we will need to beat Panama in order to lock up a spot before game 14. The US is in a good spot and I think will comfortably win each of its remaining home games. But there really isn’t a margin of error anymore. Giving up that goal to Panama really was a big point swing in the standings.
