In our lifetime we will see an American major metropolitan city that will be under curfew by the national guard with no one in or out until order is restored.

Can’t wait.

I mean, this basically already happened once where I live.

I have only passed through Shreveport going on vacations or going from DFW to Baton Rouge to visit....is Shreveport that bad?

They have good people everywhere. People doing their best and working hard. My advice try to live by as many of those people as you can. Surround yourself with them.

As a poster who used to live in the Jackson metro area I agree with this assessment. Jackson really is the worst place in the USA. Coincidentally the mayor wants to make it the most progressive city in the USA.

Not that there aren’t shitty all- white areas too, they just tend to be rural.

The major difference here is that extreme poverty in mostly white areas doesn't translate to huge jumps in things like murder, rape, and carjackings. You mostly end up with rampant drug/alcohol use and petty theft/property crimes due to people trying to support their habit.

Same situation in Africa when whites leave an area/country. South Africa is the next to go.

Weird how every city run by African Americans eventually turns into Africa

And South Africa is turning into, well, the rest of sub-Saharan Africa now that they got rid of the white folks.

Dude is a condescending prick...pretends that there is no agenda, just reporting the facts, but the agenda is abundantly clear...if a person ain't living in a tract subdivision with cookie cutter homes and manicured lawns they ought not be allowed to live at all.

Name one democrat run area that is "actually improving"

Outside of major metropolitan areas the entire US is on the decline...has little to do with who is in office in those areas...rural America has been dying for years. Small towns are dissapearing at a rapid clip...the only people left are those who can't or won't leave. It is really sad...

Didnt the Biden admin say they will give them $150m? Let's see if any of this gets fixed...I know going into pockets.

"Has been fixed since, hate to say it, when white ran things, maybe we need to get back to that"
- dude getting interviewed

This video needs to be seen by every whitey in the far north east and west when they get on their high horses, when they see a black person in person maybe a handful of times a year.

Who cares about any of that in this thread, as no one in this thread is talking about anything outside of metropolitan areas.

Stop trying to gaslight and compare it to something it's not as you try to white knight.

Were talking about the capital city of a state and equivalents.

so if “rural America is dying” because everyone who can leave has already left, that brings up 2 questions:

1) where did they go
2) why are the places they moved to not improving

There is no data anywhere that suggests this is true...white on white violent crime is about 12 in 1000 while black on black violent crime is about 16 in 1000. That is across ALL economic classifications. It is also a documented fact that high poverty rates make it more likely you will be a victim of crime and black people make about 30% less than white people across the board a corresponding increase of 25% in violent crime per 1000 people is as much about poverty as skin color. Dismissing economics in favor of skin color is a sizeable part of the puzzle...but I am certain no one will buy into the facts when the "want to believe" is so strong...

I used to go to high level art shows at a museum in Jackson, mid to late 90s I think. Seemed a prosperous and secure place where I went. Of course it’s like walking in the swamp, an experienced Walker knows where not to walk. Sad. Crash and reboot coming, which is the historical norm.

They are moving to major metro areas which are, indeed, improving daily. Crime is down compared to historic averages...this is true in rural America also, but what good is a verifiable fact when faced with emotion???

But during segregation, there was essentially a second economy...a black economy in the south. Those businesses, jobs, infrastructure, etc. were no longer essential and the black economy collapsed. And nowhere is that more evident than places like Jackson.

Not dissimilar to the freeing of the slaves as discussed by the founders in their letters. They lamented slavery but struggled with how to end it since there was no way to absorb millions of people who couldn't read or write.

A few pockets let them all go at once and 90% starved to death.

Desegregation may have been better to be really slow rolled to allow for a transition. That of course didn't happen and to suggest it at the time would have gone over like a turd in a punch bowl.

You also have to opposing theories at play post segregation.

One was WEB Dubois and his wanting to garner power through political means.

The other was Booker T Washington's belief of gaining a foothold through community and business similar to how the Jews in New York did. Gain enough manufacturing prowess then start to use that momentum into leadership with a solid foundation.

Well Washington's was basically kicked out and the likes of Jesse Jackson's of the world went the political route. Gained power for themselves on the premise of helping others. Once in power there was not enough cohesion in the fragmented base to oust them.

They are entrenched and the tribalism has lead to what you see in a lot of former great cities today.

Edit: Washington's "Up from Slavery" is a great book. Quick read, but phenomenal. I recommend it.
