Youngkin taps Va. lawmakers to draft 15-week abortion ban

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) said he will attempt to ban most abortions after 15 to 20 weeks of pregnancy following the Supreme Court’s ruling that overturns the constitutional right to an abortion.
Youngkin said he had asked four lawmakers to craft legislation.
“The truth is, Virginians want fewer abortions, not more abortions. We can build a bipartisan consensus on protecting the life of unborn children, especially when they begin to feel pain in the womb, and importantly supporting mothers and families who choose life,” he said in a statement.
In a conversation Friday with The Washington Post, he said he would like the cutoff to be at 15 weeks but acknowledged a possible compromise of 20 weeks in a split state legislature.
The Supreme Court on Friday overturned Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 case that required states to allow abortions up to around 24 weeks of pregnancy.
Under current Virginia state law, abortion is legal in the first and second trimesters, or up to 26 weeks of pregnancy. It is only allowed in the third trimester if the woman’s life or mental or physical health is in danger.
Youngkin told the Post that he would support exceptions for rape, incest and when the mother’s life is in danger. LINK

Virgina is pretty blue. I'd be careful.

I mean if you still want it to be legal…. these parameters are fair. Still gives women the option of going to 15 weeks and allows exceptions for rape and incest.
Of course the left will think it’s worse than slavery. They think they should be able to give birth then stab the baby.

I’m pretty convinced that the Dems could’ve have codified an abortion law if they would’ve made some concessions as it pertains to outlawing late term abortions (who the vast majority of Americans are against).
If they would’ve of done that then it probably wouldn’t have matter what SCOTUS did.

Virginal wouldn't need abortions, just the non-Virginal.

Why? He can’t run for re-election.

Seems stupid they have this, babies are viable via NICU at third trimester.

This is more than fair. Hell that’s allowing abortions up to the halfway point .
Including rape and Incest should 100% be allowed in any state . If you didn’t give consent, I don’t agree in making the mother carry to term. Having a crime committed unto the woman resulting in pregnancy should allow her to be able to abort .
It’s certainly not this Handmaids tale comparison that the libs are sky screaming now

Northern Virginia is blue.
The rest is pretty red.
I'd almost agree to let DC be a State as long as they take Arlington and Fairfax Counties with it.

Oh, hey. Did not know they were a one and done state.
Now that the dog has caught the car, it's going to be interesting to watch the various states wrestle with this.

Retard leftists act like these make up the majority of abortions. That's why I refuse to listen to any of them on this topic. Until they realize that abortion is really just used as birth control >99% of the time, there is no point in having this discussion with them.

i dont support 15 weeks, but if you believe in the viability facet, 15 weeks is reasonable.
we know damn well viability is before 24 weeks. There's a 3 year old in Alabama born at 19 weeks, i guess he was pretty viable.
nevertheless, viabilty is a horrible determination for whether a life exists or not. it will continue to change with medical and technological advancement.
Hell, in 20 years, viability could by 1 day. Do humans get a pass because we killed babies because we couldnt support them due to our inadequacies?
