They did it in 2020 too, albeit in a different way, when it became clear Bernard was a threat to win the nomination. Everyone spontaneously dropped out and endorsed Biden at the same time. They’ve got it down to a science.

The reality is that the left is a much broader coalition, and has great difficulties in getting alignment from its members.
What is confusing to you here is that when something like sexual abuse comes up, the left drops the offender like a hot rock, whereas the right is so rigid, homogenous and committed to "winning" at all costs, they worship a pedophile rapist as their president and get off to Mike Huckabee playing bass on Fox News for Ted Nugent despite him explicitly stating that he is also a pedophile rapist. Dont matter to yall cause hes on your side.
If anything, what you described applies exclusively to Republicans.
