The top story on reddit politics is "Soy farmers say they're getting hurt in Trump's trade war with China"

Soyboys concerned about their soy lattes and soy protein shakes

Most have probably never even met a farmer

I saw a piece about this on the evening news last night.

Soybean farmers here are concerned about the impacts of the tariffs on their ability to sell to China. My understanding is it has nothing to do with use of soy here.

The fact that it is the number one story on reddit politics says a lot about the use of soy here

1 out of 3 rows of soy beans farmed in the US is exported.

60 percent of that is bought by China.

this doesnt have a damn thing to do with your idiotic suggestion of soy lattes and has everything to do with Trump being a clown who doesnt have a clue how global trade works.

The left should be happy. Soybeans are plummeting right now so their soy will be cheaper.

Only farmers hurting are the ones who gambled and didn't book their beans already. Most I know locked in a profitable price months ago when beans were between 10-11 dollars

Sooooooo what happens when the price of soy goes up? The truck strike in Brazil has soybeans rotting in the field. Prices go up, China will pay for US soybeans, soybean farmers make bank, and your tofu costs more.

Oh yes...one more thing -

China bends a knee!

I'll trust Trump's policy.

And the previous state of affairs hurt our manufacturing base. There are going to be winners and losers no matter what trade policy we pursue.

Read a long thread this morning with most post being soybean farmers. While most say they will experience a loss this year, they are all happy to take it for a better future. The overall opinion is they are tired of China dictating soybean prices here in the US

Will you be willing to eat crow if he succeeds and we end up with better trade deals in the end?

Well you opened the door so lets see what you got. If you are certain he doesn't know, that means that, surely, you do. Please, school us all in global trade, oh wise one.
