In a relatively short time, Wednesday has gone from an objective, reasonable, right-of-center poster to one of the rage posters. It has been fascinating to watch.

Yes. Losing one’s temper in an isolated issue is being a rage poster.
Hank- your level of overstating an issue is rivaled only by your both sides rationalizations of obviously unequal treatment of the same conduct.
And I did apologize to you - still was sincere. Didn’t realize I was responding to someone else.
Being wrong doesn’t make you an idiot. But rationalizing a truth also doesn’t make you correct.
Anyhoo - Hopefully you accept my apology. I dont expect one for the rage poster thing.

I certainly accept your apology.
I understand that you did not like the “rage poster” comment, and I want you to understand it.
Until a year or two ago, I knew that any post from you would be well-reasoned, objective and polite. It was one reason that you were among my favorite posters, even when we disagreed. But lately, there is an even chance that any given post will fit that mold OR instead be a rhetorical primal scream. It has been a weird change.

I just like an occasional F Bomb as punctuation. And the J6 civil liberties destruction is probably the kind of hill I would die on.
Watching all this happen is infuriating, sad and terrifying. Nothing makes a woman more pissed off than telling her she’s pissed off for no reason. And nothing makes this woman more furious than telling me not to believe my lying eyes. I can take insults - bc I know who I am. However - Do not piss on my leg and tell me it’s raining. It insults my intelligence and that is the only kind of insult I will not tolerate. Sadly, the entirety of the political discourse coming from our professional media class, the current President (who unlike you is a genuine idiot), and my own political party has been to take the piss/raining tack. I will not have it. And no American should tolerate it.
I’m not mad at you Hank. Or any of the leftist morons (or even leftists non-morons). I am, however, livid that in my own country - somehow, I have been mischaracterized as an extremist for simply failing to take ANYTHING that comes from my government’s mouth at face value.
My government works for me- not the other way around. It is time to clean house and for some actual accountability. Not this bread and circus bullshite that’s telling me something I know is not true.
I won’t apologize ever for being justifiably furious at the insult to all of my countrymen being perpetrated by these insubordinate employees WE are supposed to be supervising.

It's a bit of a dilemma how to respond to guys like Hank. I legit am okay with trolling a bit on an internet politics board in order to spark conversation and sometimes (or rarely) thought, but whether Hank is expressing his true understandings/beliefs on here or not, there are a few tens of millions of reasonably intelligent and mostly productive people out there that think like he posts. They don't see a difference between "far Right" and "far Left" because it's logical there wouldn't be one, and they don't believe their own eyes and ears where what the Dems are doing to this country is concerned. I have a brother like this - legit intelligent AF, PhD in medical physics, good guy, but he doesn't believe the media is biased for Dems, doesn't believe that big tech is censoring anybody (come on, this is America, nobody is censored!), doesn't believe DOJ/FBI would selectively investigate/prosecute along partisan lines, and a few other similarly naïve things. I'm 100% confident he'll end up understanding things correctly, but the hole we're letting the Dems dig for this country will be deeper than if he/the millions like him simply pulled their collective head out of their arse today.

Caring deeply about the law being applied evenly used to be pretty common across the political spectrum.
A buddy of mine made the observation that we can fix a corrupt executive branch and we can fix a corrupt legislative branch. It’s not as simple as electing someone; a lesson we all learned from 2016 - 2020, but it’s manageable. He doesn’t think a corrupt judicial branch is as manageable as the other two, and I think he’s correct.

Reasonable poeple do. The extent for most cases will be tresspassing. The biggest point is Antifa, BLM did billions of dollars damage. Death count in the 20s. There is little to no prosicution. Using J6 to gas light a talking point and demonize half the country (opposition) has to disgust reasonable poeple. Also the prisoners being held without due process.

What's the proper response to crimes being investigated and prosecuted along political partisan lines?

simply do not understand this notion in the minds of the Far Right to the effect that anyone who wants to see the January 6 lawbreakers prosecuted would somehow be opposed to prosecution of the summer of love rioters.
The reason we feel that way is because that’s the actual sentiment of the majority of leftist progressives and politicians.
Jan 6 protestors have been tracked down using every method available and had their lives ruined - including being thrown in the gulag for far less than your average Chicago reveler does every weekend.
Meanwhile there was no effort to investigate antifa whatsoever, no repercussions for the destruction of public property and our current VP supported a fund to bail out rioters. And we won’t even mention the support of defunding police and inserting radical DA’s.
I agree with you that everyone should be prosecuted equally but that’s not the Democrat or Progressive position.

I simply do not understand this notion…
I can shoot you in the head with a 9mm.
I can also shoot you in the foot with a 9mm.
Both “potentially” could kill you. Only one will “likely” kill you.
These are not the same. You prosecute accordingly.
That is not even remotely what is happening.

You need help with your reading comprehension. He didnt say or imply he felt similarly about both.
What he said was:

I would like to see both groups of people prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
See if you can figure out the difference.

Hank, the problem with what you would like is that it isn't happening. Antifa and the like traveled the country looting and burning and BLM fanned the flames. So few were prosecuted. But yet people are in DC jails for months and some a year.
I agree people knocking in windows at the capitol and such were wrong. People breaking through barriers, they were wrong. But the disparity of treatment is what people are angry about.
