I don’t pretend to know anything about macro economic policies that will generate jobs for the masses. But Jesus, i just listened to Yang on CBS espouse his $1,000 per person universal income for all.

His talking points: $1,000 per citizen will result in 2,000,000 new jobs due to the influx of spending into Main Street business like auto repairs shops, day care facilities, and LITTLE LEAGUE SIGN UPS

Little league signups= J O B S

WHO THE frick KNEW?!?!

WHAT IN THE ACTUAL frick IS THIS GUY TALKING ABOUT AND HOW IS IT THAT THIS GUY HAS MORE MONEY THAN ME WKTH IDEAS LIKE THIS?

My first reaction to getting free money would be to go look for a job

On top of the fact that $1,000- is that really a lot of money?

The first thing that I would expect to happen, is that people under the poverty line who hold minimum wage jobs will quit their jobs and never look for work again.

In the first few months the OD rate would skyrocket.

For 18 year old's making 10-12 bucks an hour, working 20 hours a week while they go to college or do whatever?

I could see a job loss instead.

Giving people free money is like giving a wild animal free food. The animal will come for the free food and never learn to hunt.

Unless UBI replaces SSI, SNAP, Section 8, etc then it's just another plan to make people feel like they've done something when in actuality all they've done is move the deck chairs around. We saw what handing out free money did in the wake of Katrina (and why FEMA no longer does it).

And let's not forget that everywhere UBI has been tried as a means of relieving poverty, it's failed. Every. Single. Time.

That’s a lot of “free” money just to produce two million jobs.

So 2 trillion dollars to create two million jobs.

That's 1 million dollars per job.

WTF.
