We need more deals. Now is the time to make them. Hopefully Trump keeps it rolling!
This isn't a "deal". This is Trump giving a large business a lot of money without going through competitive bidding. The same thing the Swamp did with Federal projects, until the public found out about all of the corruption involved with no-bid contracts. Now federal agencies have to bid out contracts valued over a certain amount (I think it's $2M).
Would another US company have done this for $700M? What are the deadlines, expectations, reporting required? Why wasn't this broken into four $200M contracts for US companies, so they would then have to be competitive with their pricing?
Very swampy, and real conservatives should be raising questions.

Democrats cant complain about this. They bitched that lupus patients couldnt get hcq now because of Trump touting it for Covid. Well, here you go. More Jobs created and more hcq made for your lupus patients.

"The global revenue of the Eastman Kodak Company amounted to around 1.33 billion U.S. dollars in 2018."

Would you rather it come from China?

I never said big pharma. But they are a very large business. And just got handed more $$$.
Handing out large, no-bid contracts is a shady, swampy tactic.

I haven’t delved very far into the hydroxychloroquine mess other than I know y’all have been singing it’s praises eve since Trump first tweeted about it. Is there actually proof? Studies that show this? Or just doctors feelings and such
Yes there are studies out of Yale showing effectiveness. Also there is a Novel Caronavirus that was treated with Hydroxychloroquine in the 80s that was very successful (under Fauci might I add). Fauci should be sent to GITMO

He can’t win with you people. He sits on his hands Trump is doing nothing and people are dying. He does something to produce results. He’s just giving money to people.

Kodak has the infrastructure to start production now. Not in 12 months when the factories are built. They also have the size to produce enough for our nation. I’m sure that played a part in why they got the contract.

You libs loved it when Obama gave the Obamacare website contract to a Canadian computer firm in a no-bid situation.
Why’d they give the contract to a Canadian outfit? One of their executives was a black, female college buddy of Moochelle.
When they got fired, they were 300% over budget, and the thing still wasn’t working.

The company had been decimated. They were a major employer in a small town.
You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch.

Wrong. I don't like any no-bid contracts over $2M, as the FAR states.
Where is the transparency here?

Y'all miss this? Trump uses DPA to give Kodak almost $800M to produce HCQ
This is an unabashedly good and smart thing to do, but you're reading it wrong if you believe this has all that much to do with hydroxychloroquine. This is about expanding CONUS production capacity which will be necessary when vaccines and treatments become available. Hydroxychloroquine won't play as much into is because demand for it has been and will continue to recede since it doesn't work for COVID and we have an expanding toolkit of treatments that do. Once they square away all the lupus sufferers who are on backlog, they'll use this capacity for more pertinent treatments.
