The University of Southern California, Yale University and several other elite colleges are being sued by two Stanford University students who claim they were denied a fair opportunity for admission and have had their degrees devalued due to the college cheating scheme revealed by federal officials Tuesday. Erica Olson and Kalea Woods filed a class action lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California on Wednesday, a day after federal authorities said they uncovered one of the largest college admissions scams to hit the U.S. The lawsuit seeks $5,000,001 on behalf of what the lawyers estimate will be thousands of plaintiffs who fit the criteria to seek class status.

The University of San Diego, the University of Texas at Austin, Wake Forest, Georgetown, Stanford, Yale and USC -- along with William “Rick” Singer, who was called the ringleader of the admissions scheme -- were also named as defendants in the lawsuit.

Good, bring these commie, leftist indoctrinating shite holes to their knees.

Yet, they made it in Stanford, which also had students cheat to get in.....

While i agree someone likely lost a spot to get in, i highly doubt these two were effected.....

However, if they had to pay a fee to apply to the college, i think they can win back repayment of that fee....

This is the first salvo.

Any student denied acceptance during that period is part of a major class action.

FBI said it was individuals doing this and not the universities. Just so you will know.

If anyone from an admissions dept is part of the legal action, the schools are fricked.

$5M isn’t going to be much to all these schools though. Weird the amount is so low, unless there is an ulterior motive to *someone* controlling the class action against them.

Yep,

Yale has already blamed it on the coach and him alone. Says they were victims in all of it.

And as we've seen the FBI has the credibility of that Nigerian prince fellow who promised me millions for that small $50 fee.

Chelsea Clinton graduated from Standford. A little pay to play there also if this has been happening for awhile.

Have to believe they have a better case than most class actions.

Will they win? To be played out over the next several years. Best guess: An out of court settlement enriching the lawyers, a few pennies for those cheated by the colleges.

FBI also made an agreement not to look at Clinton foundation emails

Why trust anything they say?

My guess, the $50M controled by the class action lawyer(s). A claim low enough for a quick out-of-court settlement; high enough for the lawyer(s) to retire in comfort. The deprived students? Tough, this isn't about them.

it isn't that much work to throw this together. and there are law firms and lawyers that specialize in these things.

I know someone whose child was waitlisted USC a few years ago, and the kid didn't get in. They are quite mad right now.
