re: WTF is going on with testing in Texas?

This is in Alabama not Texas, but my grandmother's 96 year old brother and 93 year old sister tested positive in their nursing home and both are still kicking 6 weeks later. My great uncle is so frail since he's been in there a cold would kill him, yet he survived corona

We need to know what the percentage is of these “positive” tests that have no symptoms. Nobody in the media seems interested in that information
Plenty of american and foreign studies are indicating the percentage of asymptomatic is between 75-96%.

Amazing what lengths some will go to pretend Corona is something other than a cold. I really hope Trump goes nuclear on this - take federal funding away from schools and state/local government that insist on playing this ridiculous game.

From what I understand the nasal swab test actually has a pretty extreme false NEGATIVE rate.
You must not understand much

I was on a call last week with several industry insiders. They admitted the viral test tends to show false negatives. The antibody tests tend to show false positives about 30% of the time.

I tested positive and my wife tested negative but we both definitely had symptoms, just not bad enough to require hospitalization.
What were your symptoms?

So the falses are in both directions?
Well then, I just flipped a coin.
Nope, I don't have it! Whew!
sounds like the same thing as getting tested
A very easy math sample can show that false positives outnumber real ones if the percentages are right.
but that is "math" which is both "racist" and not relevant to this virus apparently

they arent even trying to be honest with this shite any more and if you had any type of flu, its not specific to the bat flu, you will show up as positive
Fake News

They're contact tracing and reporting all contacts/potential cases as new cases.

This is BS. I personally gave 11 nasal swabs to 11 guys housed in a small pod in a detention center in Colorado. All 11 came back positive. No symptoms at all. If anything it has too many false positives.

Is this true?

She said the facility her mother lives at just reported 35 patients and 13 staffers who tested positive for the virus yet no one is showing any symptoms.

I get more skeptical every day with these "positive" numbers.
The "positive" numbers are reflective of more testing and identification, not necessarily more infections. Though infections ARE likely rising too.
The two critical stats are ICU admissions and deaths. Aside from those two stats, nothing else is really pertinent.
ICU numbers track potential overwhelming of the healthcare system. High numbers would signify need to stymie reopening. Deaths are the ultimate system feedback.

No.
I am an ER nurse. Every Covid swab we do has a form we fill out of staff contact and family contact with the patient. I’ve personally been involved in the care of 30 or so positive patients.
I have never been contacted by anyone. To trace me or my further contacts after my exposure. We recently did “surveillance “ testing as staff. My swab was negative. If I’d believe ANY conspiracy it’s that the hospital tests would give false negatives. The hospital could not handle a 15% positivity rate among staff.

With the way the books are being taken...probably 2. All this makes me wonder if the states get money for each positive

Similar but more severe symptoms than the flu.
Headache, shortness of breath, severe fatigue, cold chills, severe body ache, like back spasm pain and joint pain. Felt like someone heavy was standing on my lower back/hips. Not too much fever, if any. I didn’t lose my sense of taste/smell but my wife did.

Wife just got a text from a friend who lives in the Houston area. She said the facility her mother lives at just reported 35 patients and 13 staffers who tested positive for the virus yet no one is showing any symptoms. If older people are on the front line of the bad effects of this virus then something doesn't add up.
I get more skeptical every day with these "positive" numbers. Somebody somewhere is lying their asses off.
What if we all just told anyone who asks " oh, yeah, I tested positive"
get this over with...

I posted this earlier. Look at death rates.
Denton County, one of the four counties comprising the DFW metroplex:
Through June 10th there were 36 deaths out of a total of 1563 cases. That is one death in every 43.4 cases. That's a 2.3% mortality rate.
Since then, there has been 1 death and an additional 1759 cases. That's a current mortality rate of 0.057% in the last month, basically. That is about or better than the flu.
In fact, today marks 28 days, four-weeks, since a death in Denton County attributed to Covid-19. Why the frick are we closed down and wearing masks?

Basically steady (low to no) death rate in Harris County (Houston) despite record testing and cases. They should shut that city down and crush businesses and frick with people's lives because sniffles and headaches.
