They aren’t complaining about something inconsequential. We’re falling behind and fast. The Burke, even the Flight III’s, are maxed out versions of 1970’s and 80’s designs. We can’t get a new class of ships to production in any meaningful sense for more than a generation.
Have you watched YouTube the last year?
Russia Ukraine Iran etc are absolute jokes of militaries. You are a moron if you think we are lagging them.

The U.S. has 11 aircraft carriers the next country would be China with 3. It takes China and 4 other countries to equal the U.S. The U.S. has 80 destroyers. Next on the list is China with 50. Then there is a huge drop off. Submarines is where China and Russia compete in numbers but the U.S. again has better subs. The air forces are not close. The U.S. is far more advanced with much larger numbers.
How many wooden battleships do we have? You listed a whole lot of useless shite. Technology has moved on stranding us with a big, expensive, almost useless military. Of course, we are still spending money building more of the useless stuff.
We should scrap most of our carriers and build a thousand cheap ships with drone fleets on them. Cheap robots are the future of the military. Our edge should be in the technology that governs them.

You guys are so obsessed with DEI that there’s no room in your brains for rational thought about anything else…

That's ignorant. You have to look at what your needs are then determine costs to fulfill those needs.
This is like worrying about feed for horses that pull your carriage when you have a perfectly good car with a full tank of gas and a wallet full of cash.
Warfare is changing.
Look weak, then smoke your overconfident enemy.

Intelligent drones have already started to emerge and they have already made a whole lot of armor obsolete.
Drones are all the rage right now but eventually systems will be designed to counter them and so on and so forth. Its the circle of life

Hahaha....the have been flying the F47 for years. The competition wasn't for Boeing or Lockheed to design and build a jet. The USAF designed and built the prototype. The competition was for them to mass produce what the USAF designed.
Yes, test flights. We’re nowhere close to producing them. 4-5 years at least before we even get the first production version.

Russia Ukraine and Iran are not the concern. Particularly for the navy.

Was this op-ed sponsored by Lockheed-Martin or Boeing?

Outside of strategic values of "presence" if we got into a shooting war with China there arent going to be any blue water naval battles like WW2. They will all be sunk with over the horizon missiles or drone torpedos.

Serious question.
Because no non-racist, non-chauvinist would ever support DEI, yet you seem to.

They are not 5 years from production. The prototype has been flying for years. They are ready to roll right now. They awarded the contract because they are ready for production now.

China fudges their numbers on their military build up. They also have 250x the ship production capacity.
We have nicer shite, but quantity will win out. Russia has been slowly grinding down Ukraine with shittier but significantly more weapons and manpower

There isn’t even a chance of first flight of a production model until 2029. And that’s one plane.

So the first production F22 started in June 1995 and its first flight was September of 1997. Somehow though 30 years later with the advancements in computers and robotics its suppose to take twice as long. Yea, ok.

You understand that the 2029 date was announced, right?

We currently have 3 nuclear Ford class aircraft carriers being built. Which will put us at 14. China just got their 3rd. They have a long way to go to catch up.

That conundrum has been my point in the entire thread. Navy, Army, AF, all of it takes absolutely forever now to get anything built.

The Nimitz’s are being retired 1:1 with the Fords. We’re staying at 11.
We’re still two years out on the Kennedy, and they started in 2015/16. The Enterprise will be early 2030’s at best.
Our total number is also deceptive, as no more than 5 and sometimes 6 are available at any given time.
