I literally don't remember anyone other than me ever discussing that fact on this board. Kudos to you, good sir
For those unaware, your prefrontal cortex is the last bit of brain to develop. It's responsible for long term planning, risk assessment, personal inhibition, and quite a bit of your personality. When you see cases like Miller v. Alabama come out, this is what they are based on.

18 to join. 21 before you can be placed in combat situation.

No. I'm fine with raising the driving age and voting age, and lowering the drinking age.

There's really nothing magical about any age. 18, 21, 25, or 35.
I've read that the human brain doesn't fully mature until age 25.
The military wants 18 year olds because they're more willing to risk their lives thinking they're invulnerable. Older folks are a bit less careless. (This is why auto insurance rates go down when drivers hit 25)
I like the way it was in Wisconsin when I grew up. 16 to drive, 18 to drink beer, 21 to drink hard liquor and vote. A gradual increase in responsibility and freedom.

21 as the drinking age is still enforced even in countries in which the drinking age is lower (20 in Korea, 16 in Germany, etc.)
When did that start?

Yep. You're either an adult, or you're not. If you can be tried as an adult, you should be able to buy a gun and drink.
True.
Though looking at the current young generation, I'm not sure many 18 yr olds are adult level mature. Society is different than it used to be. A lot of people still live with their parents into their early 20s when used to when you hit 18 you were out of the house and on your own

I feel like these two statements are mutually exclusive

What’s so magical about 21?

I would also be ok with a ban of Ar-rifles. I own 37 firearms and have absolutely no need for an AR.
You don’t own one or want to purchase one, so no one else can have one? That’s some bad logic.
The AR platform has been around since the late 50’s. It’s only been a problem the last decade. I wonder why...
