Would anyone here subject their family to the smears of running for office?

Would you accept being treated like Kav or Trump if you thought you could make a difference?

Remember, even if you are squeaky clean, they will smear you and your family like this.

Will this make cowards out of good men?

Vote UP for: "Yes, I'd run anyway"
Vote DOWN for: "No, it's not worth it or fair to my family."

For the record, I wouldn't do it.

I would never run for office as a republican. It is a guaranteed hit job.

I’d do it at the state level.
In a red state.
Past that, no.

Perhaps it's time for all good people to start calling this shite out for what it is - loudly and often.

I’ve done it and won.
One of the first pieces of advice given to me was that people were going to tell lies about you and that the surprising part is that some of those liars will be people who you thought were your friends.

They were right on both counts.

You have to have thick skin and be able to stick to your guns no matter what.

It’s not for everybody.

Everyone who runs gets hit. Unfortunately it is now the nature of elections.

I way. I was actually encouraged to run but said no way. Politics attracts bad people. I did my time for my country and i’m looking out for family from here on.

Kavanaugh has never run for office. Most federal judges haven’t. Heretofore he had an impeccable record and life. He’s a grown up who has operated in the political arena and knows what he signed up for. He has had his background checked 5 times and passed muster. I don’t think he expected this and I damn sure know his wife and little girls didn’t sign up for or expect this humiliation. I would feel the same way if this were a Democratic President’s appointee and a Republican minority were trying this tactic (which I don’t think would ever happen).

Nope. Running as a Republican on a big stage...will make you and your family the #1 enemy of the msm. Not only that...but the msm and Democrats will incite their mob following to make death threats against you and your family.

Only way to have an msm free election is to run as a Democrat.

The only way I'd run for a federal position is as a democrat. They're basically intimidating the Republicans into not running. The media in this country is a fricking mob.
