is your desire to have a smaller government mean a willingness to oppress voting blocs simply because they don't adhere to your political ideology?
Yes.

Who said they were different? You threw in a straw man in a thread about taking woman's right to vote away from them.
It's not a straw man, it's the topic, moron.

So make the case Zach.
I already did. I'm waiting for you to respond.
Women did NOT have the right to vote. America was great. Why should they have the right to vote? Give me one reason that does not apply to further expansion whether you favor further expansion or not.
Do you understand?

This just isn't true, but we're talking about women.
Thats why I mentioned Achen/Bartels, going through the rolodex of our anecdotal experiences is not likely to yield a reliable conclusion.
This is a thread populated by people trying to make the case woman should have their right to vote rescinded. You made the point that in your experience woman seem to share certain characteristics. Which you think make them unfit to have the right to vote. I made the point that in my experience men share all of those characteristics as well. So comparing both our experiences suggests an even playing field. But since neither of our experiences is reliably representative of the larger population, and we would just be going back and forth arguing who's anecdotal experience is superior, ignoring that neither is ultimately reliable, I think it is wise to look at research and studies that have attempted to study that larger population more carefully.
And when you look at that evidence, both sexes seem equally pre-disposed to non-ideal decision-making processes in politics.

It's as if you didn't notice what I said in my previous post.
You seem to do that a lot.

Neither did non-white males that didn't own property. Is that the period you want to go back to?
When was America great exactly in your mind? Like what year range are we talking about?

I know, the topic is about taking a woman's right to vote away, not giving dogs the right to vote. Glad you see it clearly now as well.

Setting aside the empirical evidence, or lack thereof for that simple narrative, the question is, is your desire to have a smaller government mean a willingness to oppress voting blocs simply because they don't adhere to your political ideology?

How about we make it so only property owners may vote?

Lots of stupid going on in this thread. Good gracious.

In today's age, I think that is a mistake - many productive, intelligent people still do not own any property. I think having a net taxpaying family unit as the entry is the best compromise. This would eliminate someone like me, who has property but no children (I don't have a stake in the game), and at least gives an opportunity for the 'up and coming' to have some kind of input.

Yes. If you don't own property you shouldn't be able to vote on things like property taxes.

The founding to 1964. Happy?
Now answer my question. Justify WHY women should get the right to vote but the franchise should not be expanded further. You've had 4 chances. You've blown all of them. You're looking scared and stupid and people on this board are laughing at you. Man up. Answer the question.

The real way to fix this is to have a voting license that you have to buy. Say a one time fee of $1500. You could blame it on voting machines and pill workers being expensive
No welfare leech could ever scrape together $1500 and most of the people that shouldn't vote wouldn't bother

Something tells me along the way you are not going to extend this to its logical conclusion. How about woman's health issues?

The Civil Rights Act, about what I expected I guess.

The onus is not on me, that right has been given, it is you seeking to take it away and not providing clear and justifiable evidence for it other than stating that at one time it wasn't there, but neither was the ability for black people to vote. Or any non-white males that didn't own property.
I'm satisfied with the status quo, with the exception of technical challenges of disenfranchisement and suppression of eligible voters. So this slippery slope argument of yours isn't really relevant. The broad eligibility requirements are a fair and equitable arrangement as they exist today.
