Ate there last week, was shocked how quality food declined
Their food sucks now. I stopped eating there.
Cracker Barrel used to be good. I would get the chicken fried steak and it was obviously hand breaded, irregular shaped, and very tasty.
Then the last time I got it, it was a perfect circle, obviously mass produced and frozen, and tasted like an old shoe.
Everything else had declined in quality as well.
We stopped eating there.
The problem was never their look or atmosphere. Their problem is the decline of the quality of their food.

She will be a full time victim now saying this country’s deep racial issues prevented her from progressing the company.

Is it just me or did Cracker Barrel miss out on naming the old guy, Uncle Cracker?
As a white male, I don't find this offensive at all, but completely hilarious.

But again, that's just not factual. They were rapidly growing from 2010-2020 until Covid. They, they roubounded to to double their pre Covid numbers. Their issues started in 2022-2024.
I wouldn't call an average of 5 new stores a year rapidly growing. But again, I've addressed what I meant. They changed the way their kitchen works in 2012-2013. This sacrificed quality, which was the start of their decline as a brand.
They were financial healthy until COVID, though. As you say, that is factual. But the decisions they made nearly a decade and a half ago caught up with them. The rebrand was the wrong remedy.

It's Cracker Barrel. It never was "good". It was always serviceable. Black Bear Diner it has never been.

When every store on average is doubling their NI year over year, that is rapid growth. Regardless of how many stores they added. Youre using anecdotal evidence instead of the data available.

They prioritized margin expansion over quality, squeezing more profit out of existing stores. So sure, that's growth (just not sustainable). Doing so sowed the seeds of their decline.

The over the top pretentious glasses come in the Junior Maoist starter kit.

In 2021 they rebounded up to 250M in Net Income, then had a drastic drop all the way down to 100M in NI in 2023 and 40M in 2024, which is why they brought her in.
Looks like they lost their way and then brought her in to double down with an extra dose of corporate stupidity.

Great news. Now get someone that’s normal.

Good, Love Cracker Barrel. Now focus on the food and get me back in your restaurant. Food quality has gone down hill fast over the last 2 + years.

Its cracker barrel bro, its not that serious

Agreed. I used to love their chicken fried steak. I don’t plan on going back.

Good food and service make "reasonable pricing" less likely. That's a major problem with CB (which is why the rebrand was even conceptualized) and other legacy chains.
Except a competent CEO did just that at Chili's and revived the brand.
Sound familiar? \/

Following a massive multi-year turnaround play and several viral marketing moments, the 50-year-old legacy chain and its Baby Back Ribs are back, better than ever, and here to stay, thanks to turnaround architect and Brinker International CEO Kevin Hochman and his team.
The votes are in, and it’s unanimous—Chili’s is the official comeback kid of the year (and last year). Just three years ago, it was a brand seemingly caught in the quicksand of nostalgia—fondly remembered, but not top of mind for modern consumers thinking about where to spend their dining dollars. Fast forward to today, and Chili’s is not only back in the national conversation—it’s dominating it.

Same. I got a cubing attachment for out KitchenAid stand mixer and now I make it at home with leftover pieces of beef tenderloin from the ends that aren't big enough for filets.
