With the surge in republican enthusiasm and polling because of the delay

Since this is such a losing topic for the Dems, why is it so bad if it’s dragged out? Technically, what Flake did helped bigly.

I mean, there’s always the risk of not getting confirmed the longer it goes on.
It’s interesting though, given a good 30-40% of this board was against the nomination when it first was made because Kavanaugh wasn’t “conservative enough”, I wonder if some wouldn’t welcome that. Win/win potentially for them.
But I suspect for most it’s a point of pride now, Kavanaugh not getting confirmed would be the Democrats “winning”.

As a dem, who never thought BK wasn’t going to eventually get confirmed, the sooner this is over the better.
There’s a real good chance that in a month this will be ancient history in terms of topical politics. In which case, enthusiasm might very well dissipate.
Dragging it out more would be a good thing for republicans, imo. Keep it front and center.

The people y'all pissed off don't have short memories amigo

You’d be surprised how quickly things change with these news cycles. October surprises basically have to be the last week of October for them to have a real impact. People are fickle.

Yeah, this has been win/win for us since that letter dropped. If by some miracle Kav is ultimately defeated, and especially if it happens closer to Election Day, the “blue wave” is done for.

Sure they do. When’s the last time y’all were bitching about sanctuary cities? How tall is that wall? Stormy D? Or anything else that nobody actually gives a shite about this month?
The memory is shorter than you think. Might not matter for you and I, assuming like me you always vote, but for a lot of people it’ll come down to their commute, the weather, or whatever else is going on that day.
I’m skeptical that this carries over, assuming he gets confirmed in the coming days.

How can you not be embarrassed to call yourself a dem after the past couple years?

After the farce that was the Merrick Garland charade all bets are off. Anybody buying the “this is the worst ever! New low” idea is naive.
I don’t give any creedance to the accusations, disregard them. But the rest of that circus, including his full blown temper tantrum w/a Clinton conspiracy theory, wtf was that???

uh, Kav was the lead author of the report recommending Clintons impeachment. He dug up ALL the dirt on Slick Willy.
This was payback from the Clintons. Its no coincidence that both Fords lawyers are from the Clinton camp

This has fired up people in my circle a million times more than any of that shite. I know it's anecdotal but it seems like Dems really screwed the pooch on this one. He'll even some of my liberal friends and family are turned off by Kavanaugh's treatment. We shall see.
Posted on 10/4/18 at 11:28 pm to ell_13
The Dems should have just let this one go. They never had the votes to stop it. Instead all of America got an education on what the star Democrats on the senate judiciary committee are really like, and reality is not a pretty picture in that respect. Those are some rough folks.

I'm was lukewarm on Kav. Solid but not a homerun, IMO.
The leftist circus will probably push him further right. Like it appears to have done with Trump.
So.....I'm bullish on him now.

Are you actually trying to say that the Garland “charade”, as you call it, was worse than this fiasco? Holy shite!! I think you are aren’t you?

Your memory fails you I see. McConnell just did what Joe Biden espoused - no SC justice should be appointed during an election year. Karma and shite. Harry Reid also comes to mind with the majority vote instead of 60 votes thingy too.
