I highly doubt it. As someone else said, it depends so much on Congress. If Republicans sweep the elections and there’s a red wave in the House and Senate, maybe. But as it stands now, Republicans want to spend more on defense, and Democrats want to spend more on entitlements. They’ll “compromise” by spending more on both.

We're discussing adding about $7T to our GDP in 4 years. You're claiming that won't lead to inflation (assuming no major population growth)?

Oh I see, you are expecting the president to control inflation, balance the budget and not grow the economy.

What exactly do you think can be done?

No

Will it be better than anyone you’d vote for? I don’t know how it couldn’t be

What do we do.

We have to cut spending bigly in these programs

And yet we had our biggest pre-Covid budget deficit under Trump

That good economy wasn't helping stop the gap

Why?

Electability may not work, but how does the math not work?

and can only be resolved with a solid economy and growth.

We will only collect right at 20% of our GDP as tax revenue, which means for ever dollar in deficit you want to make up, that GDP growth has to be $5.

Our GDP was like $27.4T in 2023.

To make up the $984.4B 2019 deficit, we'd need an extra $4.922T, which is 18% of our current GDP. And that's just to get even at 2019 rates.

We would still have $34T on the books increasing every year with about 3% compounding interest.

No. I'm popping the bubble of the NPC meme that we can grow our economy to fix the deficit/debt issue. The math doesn't work.

Growing our economy is a small part of the equation.

Nothing else is big enough to really matter.

Because the math doesn’t work. How many members in congress are going to cut all this?

Social Security Medicare Medicaid Military ACA subsidies

I dint believe in a balanced budget. It’s to constraining to maintain a forward looking economy. We can cut some spending and we should but that’s never going to enough as the deficit isn’t simply a math problem with budget dollars but involves the math of the electorate.

You get a booming economy with more money flowing in people’s pockets and your more likely to get the needed cuts to balance growth and spending cuts

I think we can at least get a spending freeze at current levels, no cuts, but any preplanned prescheduled increases, for this or that, get sliced out.

If we get that, I’ll be (pleasantly) floored. I give it about a 0.0062743% chance.

Correct answer. Ryan and McConnell did more to screw Trump than Pelosi and Schumer.

You aren’t getting lower inflation until the out of control spending stops. Trump isn’t going to stop spending (neither is Biden) because it would result in a bad recession and neither is willing to do that because of their ego’s. They will continue spending Trillions kicking the can down the road for the next guy. That’s not sound economic policy.

Not going to happen with Trump on the ticket. Will come down to the same 5 or 6 states it did in 2016 and 2020. Trump is incapable of a landslide.

Of course not. The problem isn't Trump. The problem is universal suffrage. Entirely too many retards get a say in who controls government.
