Idk, maybe like studying them and thinking about it? There are endless libraries of theology. Or you just throw your hands up and say well I can't figure it out so who cares

You should go to Gran Chaco National Monument in New Mexico. It is a dark sky area where light pollution is nil.
If you seek God, there are local native Americans that can provide peyote for your spiritual journey. I assured you it is an experience you will never forget.

I think it was Liberator. This is not the thread with the formulas and diagrams, but it conveys the idea.

Sounds awesome. The night sky in the outback of Australia is absolutely incredible. It's active, you can see the satellites moving and shooting stars everywhere

I'm Christian and also believe in evolution, and that there's no possible way that given the immeasurable and incomprehensible vastness of the universe, that life only exists on Earth.

I'm not sure why you think these things are mutually exclusive.

Spiritual idiot #2.....Genesis 1:27..."So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them."

This is correct. We are created in God's image.

Where does it say God created us and ONLY us.

Genesis tells us He rested from the work He had done, after creating Earth and the heavens. It doesn't say He stopped. It says He rested, which suggests He paused to continue His work after His rest.

God created and continues to create.

"Then, from the midst of a whirlwind, the Lord gave Job his answer: Here is one that must ever be clouding the truth of things with words ill-considered! Strip, then, and enter the lists; it is my turn to ask questions now, thine to answer them. From what vantage-point wast thou watching when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell me, whence comes this sure knowledge of thine? Tell me, since thou art so wise, was it thou or I designed earth's plan, measuring it out with the line? How came its base to stand so firm; who laid its cornerstone? To me, that day, all the morning stars sang together, all the powers of heaven uttered their joyful praise. Was it thou or I shut in the sea behind bars? No sooner had it broken forth from the womb than I dressed it in swaddling-clothes of dark mist, set it within bounds of my own choosing, made fast with bolt and bar; Thus far thou shalt come, said I, and no further; here let thy swelling waves spend their force". - Job 38:1-11

There were no street lights to blur the vision of the cosmos as I stood in the darkness on our farm. Just the night sky with a gazillion stars shining. I could only stare, in awe, at the light show above me. Who created this? Something or someone made all this? And whoever or whatever created all this, who created the source? Everything has a beginning and an end, I reasoned.

Fast forward nearly a couple of decades. I'm holding my newborn baby girl, so tiny, beautiful, and fragile. As I gazed at her in rapted awe, I thought only a God could create something so beautiful as that precious baby girl. It was then I knew there had to be a God.

Now I approach the end of my pilgrimage here on this rock we call earth: the earth - my temporary home floating in the sky among all those stars. I come from God, and hopefully, I will return to Him soon.

Yep, I want to see God. He's out there in that sky. He is nudging some stars in a constellation, painting a solar system there.

Not an unreasonable interpretation of the Text, if we assume the validity of the Text itself.

What does this have to do with the question I asked?

quote:

Will you guys EVER stop this? Being an atheist DOES NOT make one a Leftist... There are a good number of us here and yet this still gets said constantly. How badly do you guys want us from out under the tent?

Atheists are not automatically leftists. Assuming this, or demanding it be so by continually bashing atheists with one broad brush only alienates those of us who are well right of center. For what?

I think it has, but not by me. I no longer call myself a conservative because it's clear that too many in that group assume you must be Team Jesus to be in it. I'm not, though I share most of the same political and social beliefs.

I now call myself center-right thanks to being kicked out...

The Left hates God and is at war with him. All the good things like family, God's men and women, peace, happiness, community, love, forgiveness come from God. The Left is against all those things because they are against God. Everything they have ever done or will do was with the ultimate goal of defeating Christianity, undermining it and making themselves God. If you believe in some of those good things that conservatives do, that's from God. So they are going to argue, rationalize, intimidate and push the culture until you don't believe in those things anymore. Or you will have to choose God's side.

No offense, but you just do not really understand SoCons. They do not WANT you, and they do not think that they NEED you. To them, you are just another variety of RINO and a blemish upon the purity of THEIR notion of the Republican Party.

Gaggle is not some outlier. He just says that which most SoCons are THINKING anyway.

It is this attitude that makes them a pox upon the GOP.

The scientific liberals are still in a state of disbelief bordering on coma.

They had the universe figured out and in a closed repeating system no need they thought for a God. Then woopsy the universe, now observed, is not slowing down according to the science but expanding and speeding up.

For the sake of moving this along, fine...

quote:

This is an assertion with which I disagree.

quote:

The Left is against all those things because they are against God.

Again, they do seem to be against those things and it may even be for the reason you assert...but I'm still waiting for what this has to do with my point.

quote:

So they are going to argue, rationalize, intimidate and push the culture until you don't believe in those things anymore. Or you will have to choose God's side.

And this is why I've said at some point I'm going to be put against the wall in either The Left's dystopian nightmare of a country, or in the Religious Right's dystopian version. As someone on The Right, I'm never going to give in my beliefs to those crazies and they will not tolerate that. I'm also never going to say I believe in a god when I absolutely do not. and since neither side seem capable of allowing a divergence of thought when it comes to these issues, I'm eating a bullet form one group or the other.

I guess I'm siding with the religious bullet since it seems like it's the longer play...

Ignore them. Why do you care what they think? One of my old posting buddies from the shuttered Auburn PB who is now a reg here is of an atheistic/agnostic bent and he is one of the biggest defenders of traditional Judeo-Christian values as anyone out there.

Respectfully, you're "new" here. I've been arguing religion here since the beginning and I'm well aware of these guys. I'm still just stunned they can't see the forest for the trees here.

It's why I've generally stopped getting involved in any topic here that revolve around religion.
