And you can’t name a single one.

I don’t have to since you’re defending all of them

And you drew this conclusion because I didn’t want to allow the state legislature to be able to charge kids as adults for any and all crimes?

You trust the government way more than I do.

Correct. The DA’s can choose to try 15 year olds as adults charged with first degree murder, second degree murder, aggravated or first degree rape, or aggravated kidnapping.

Jails are already full so adding more adult felonies for 17 year olds would just grow the jail problem. Not to mention most jails won’t take 17 year old felons and the State has to pay a jail in Mississippi to house those kids.

They need to fix the juvenile justice problem first (plus hold parents accountable) and then the rest should hopefully take care of itself but I’m not holding my breath.

Exactly. So i think its funny when people get on their soapbox with the murder issue when they are wrong and are calling others idiots. Lol

If I wasn’t caring for an aging Father and helping raise Grandchildren, I’d be gone gone. Why don’t you move to CA, seems like a better fit for your views?

So, what about taking in some of these sweet angels when they get out of juvvie? You yapping Leftists will never put your money where your mouth is.

Im no leftist at all and i voted against it. Why not just tell us what crimes they want to add to the list instead of giving our legislature unbridled power?

The amendment reforming taxes was
too long and tried to do too much in one amendment. Voters weren’t sure of what the amendment would do in the end…

This is why I voted no. I can tell you with complete honesty the northern half of the state would be over the top with non-violent crimes for minors. F that

17 year olds are already sent to adult jails. That was part of his “crime reform” bills passes w last year. Yes it’s costing a lot more money in order to comply with federal regulations pertaining to separating juveniles from adults in jails and prisons.

Which views, specifically? LA clearly aligns with my views- the amendment that you wanted to pass so badly did not.

Your position is that if someone doesn’t want the government to have more power, they must allow strangers to live with them? And how does that make sense in your brain?

Based on your statement, where is the evidence that it never happens?

So a 15 year old that murders 4 year old in cold blood deserves different treatment?

Fifteen year olds are not tried as adults in this state.

Appears you're in favor of treating certain murderers different simply because they possess a magic number.

A cold blooded murderer is a cold blooded murderer, no matter what age.

Voters were asked to remove the existing list of crimes from the state Constitution, allowing lawmakers to more easily expand the offenses that could result in juveniles being charged as adults.

See in order for us to expand the list, we first have to remove the list. And they wonder why voters were skeptical?
While you’re at it, pass this spending bill so we can see what’s in it.

Proposed Amendment 3 would have granted the legislature the authority

I believe the voters didn't want this group to have any additional authority considering how well it has worked in the past.

They're asking voters to let it work like it does in every state: via the legislative process.

I’m not in favor of making up extreme scenarios toto rile up emotions in order to support someone’s opinion. Let’s just talk about what is instead of making things up.

In New Orleans, the kids that killed Linda Frickey were all charged as adults. Three were 15 and one was 17.

Kids who commit murder can already be charged as adults.
