Knowing what we know now about the CIA (and have for decades) was this the intelligence community involved or informed about all things Reagan?

Bush and Reagan got pretty nasty (not anywhere close to this past primary ,but nasty by back then standards).

I remember at the time that Gerald Ford was also considered as RR’s running mate. If I remember correctly, he turned it down.
