Why is Trump so insecure?

It seems he’s up in the polls by wide margins. Seems to enjoy the indictments. Yet he’s wildly insecure most noted by his “truth/ tweet” about Desantis and Covid which was 3-4 complete fabrications. He knows his weaknesses I think and it worries him.

He's forging ahead with a Presidential candidacy despite his opponents throwing criminal charges at him like candy. Anyone with the ability to set aside bias and consider his position probably gives him a bit of leeway.
