It was at one time the 3rd largest city in the U.S.

It was called the 'Queen City'.

Corruption slowly ground it down.

How are you filtering that thread? Because that isn’t what I see when I click your link and sort by top or best answer.

It's importance as a port hasn't been relative since the Civil War days. Houston is the port in the Gulf and West Coast ports are where everything comes in from Asia

We don’t get a bigger cut on the oil that comes in through our coast. It is divided up.

I think it's sorted by best, just scroll down past the top 5 or so replies and then it's "deleted" "deleted" "deleted" "deleted".

True. If I told some one to forget everything they know about Texas and Louisiana and then told them this:

One state would have a port on the largest river in North America that can reach 40+ states and parts of Canada in the country with the largest GDP in the world, produce 1/3 of the country's seafood supply, have a huge tourist industry that is a top 10 visited US city in that port alone and with massive oil and natural gas supply.

The other state has oil and gas to but lacks the mouth of the Mississippi River.

Which one would a person say is rich?

New Orleans should be a massively rich city yet it's a dump. It's not location. It's not natural resources yet why? It's the people and politics.

New Orleans has a population that has zero ambition to make the city great. The upper class has no intention of losing their big fish in a small pond mentality and they use the lower class to stay in power by keeping people divided.

That's it in a nutshell.

148 years of being democrat ran. That’s why. Think about it, the last Republican mayor was in 1872. According to Ds, shouldn’t it be utopia?

I honestly wasn't trying to bait anyone.
I was just trying to share the laughs at all the deleted replies in the Reddit thread.
