Most people pay lip service to freedom, but don’t truly want it.

People, are by nature, lazy. With freedom comes great responsibility; most people would rather be led around by the nose, rather than having the responsibility of making their own decisions. It’s too much work for some.

There's gotta be something in that blue hair dye. I don't know about y'all's experiences but I hardly ever meet a blue dye job with good sense.

Because they are putting that magic word “Democratic” in front of it now.

The “Democrat” in “Democratic Socialism” does not refer to the system of government they advocate; it refers to the means of gaining power - through democracy rather than through revolution. Otherwise “Democratic Socialism” is an oxymoron.

Once socialists are in power the country must choose between democracy and socialism. Socialism cannot be maintained through any democratic process. It relies on compulsion, and any demos will reject compulsion given the chance. In fact, every demos subjected to ANY kind of collectivism - socialism, nazism, fascism, or communism - has either U-turned back to capitalism, or given in to authoritarianism. This is true for:

Nazis Germany
The USSR
Mussolini’s Italy
Franco’s Spain
Mao Zedong’s China
Castro’s Cuba
Clement Attlee’s UK
Olof Palme’s Sweden

And every other country in which collectivism has been tried.

Same reason MAGA thinks that other countries pay the tariffs that Trump imposes.

Same reason a group of people who identify themselves as being vehemently against politicians who use office to enrich themselves completely ignores or excuses it when Trump or Tuberville does it.

They want to believe what they want to believe, so they ignore anything that contradicts what they want to believe.

See how many downvotes I get for this post and you'll know all you need to know.

They know it doesn't work. They're attempting to have the country fail.

People need to rise up and physically "remove" them from the country. It is clearly an attempt to overthrow our Democracy.

I can't figure out how or why a group of patriots have not already physically removed Mamdani from New York.

Anyone who wants socialism thinks it will improve their lot in life.

Nothing more.

It feels like about 90% of those people want to improve their lot at the expense of others.
