If it’s the woman’s choice whether or not to have the child, why doesn’t the father get to choose if he has to support the child?

Holy shite -- someone gets it. Morals aside, I believe that abortion up until the fetus is viable should be legal and my reasoning is purely economic. If you're not willing to spend money on welfare (which let's be honest, nobody here likes their tax dollars going to other people's kids), then you shouldn't be against abortion.
The MAJORITY of women seeking abortions come from minority backgrounds and live in or slightly above the poverty line. These women are getting pregnant because of the following:
1) Lack of knowledge or access to contraceptives
2) Lack of knowledge or access to proper sex education
I'm also of the opinion that we either invest upfront in education and contraceptives and see a decline in abortion or we can go ahead and ban abortion and pay the welfare. You can't have both. You cannot ban abortion and refuse welfare when you aren't providing the tools and education for these women to make the right choices from the get-go.
(I hope this made sense as I feel I was a bit all over the place)

What's lazy is a woman who doesn't want to become pregnant not taking every precaution to avoid pregnancy: abstinence, contraceptives, medication, etc., but instead using abortion as a matter of convenience.

I honestly don't know. I hate the argument for "women's right". Clearly the debate should start and end at, "Is a fetus a human life?" The fact that something so apolitical became such a political issue is pretty much the greatest example of people on both sides just following party lines on issues.
