Because they are irrelevant and should be treated as such. Denouncing them, or even acknowledging their existence, by the president elect lends them more credence and attention and appearance of influence than they deserve.
The media should ignore them. They are lending these fringe groups a platform for their message to get out on a national audience. It's dangerous. I had never heard of Spencer until I saw that video of his speech. I watched that video, and the first thing that hit me was that I know a ton of people who would agree with many of his points.

Has anyone here ever actually seen a KKK March or demonstration? I have lived in the South my whole life and I haven't ever seen one

I saw a Klan rally from the back seat of a car driving by as a toddler.
That was about 1970. I remember it because I thought they were ghosts. It's one of my earliest memories.
That's the last time I've seen anything from the Klan that wasn't on the news.
There are still racists out there, but to trot out the Klan has about as much relevance and railing on the Whig Party.
