Oh. Wait. You DON'T trust government. At least not when your opponents are in office.

So, that you trust them only on occasion is a SIGNIFICANT testament to your lack of intellect.

I don't trust them in EITHER case.

Statistically speaking there isn't anything to see in terms of changes in legislation.

It's sad, and unfortunately there is no policy solution

Your safety is your responsibility. We live in an imperfect world, time to be an adult and recognize and accept that fact

It's not stupidity, but it is very much a child like mindset.

Do you deny using "mass shootings" and "mental shooters" as a fear tactic?

If some of the victims had been armed this tragedy might have been averted or ended sooner than it was.

liberals know everything

healthcare
guns - I mean you see how educated and technical they are when discussing them
psychology
law
medicine
economics

They're so impressive because they're qualified to legislate everything about anything. They gave up so much to share their knowledge with us, the stupid people that need strict governance.

I don't know how I could make it through life without these superior beings dedicating their entire life to making my life so much better. They really are heroic.

I've been trying to figure out how Penn and Teller do their pistol trick, I hope after he retires, Chuck Schumer can get to the bottom of it...because liberals know EVERYTHING.

Do we construct healthcare policy based on the likelihood of ebola? Appropriate risk assessment - and thinking with your left brain - should be at the heart of political policy. You have a better chance of being killed by a dog than dying at the hands of an attack like this.

Stop being an emotional right-brained weenie.

Well, the 1st Amendment has resulted in a crapload of deaths, yet no one is calling for mental health checks to use it.

Ex.

Jenny McCarthy

Religious people who convince others not to get medical treatment for their kids.

Solid argument, really. But you wiffed on the issue at hand, unstable people can get weapons legally then kill innocents. And here is a certainty (left or right brain), its not going to stop.

No he didn't. Is it with diminishing the rights of millions for such an unlikely event?

Indeed. It's already illegal. What is more legislation going to accomplish?

Hardly. You need to work on your analytic and reading comprehension skills. You also completely ignored the main thrust of my point. The risk/reward isn't remotely close enough to justify the intrusion into constitutional rights, HIPAA, or a hundred other things.

A mentally unstable person can also legally obtain a car and use it as a weapon (as this guy did), build homemade explosives with legally obtained materials (as the Tsarnaev brothers did), fly planes into buildings, and on and on. Small risk is the price to pay to live in a free and dynamic society.

Actually this is probably one of those cases where you can say that wasn't true. Roommates and friend still killed in sleep, sorority girls still dead in a drive-by, and guy in coffee shop (?) still dead. After that it was a bunch of people hit by the car, no?

If they were armed how do you know it still wouldn't have deterred him? He was a coward so I think he would have avoided a sleeping armed person.

There is a gun under my bed and in the corner behind my door. Only you liberals equate that to me sleeping with a holstered gun attached to my drawers or under my pillow.

What could go wrong with placing more needless restrictions on the most important constitutional amendment there is?
