So are you a free speech absolutist or not? Was Elon right to ban West?

Yes

Twitter can ban people for absolutely any reason it wants. Period.

No, because it violated his own stated standard.
BUT, is is within his right to do it.

I’m just done with the internet outside of TD. It’s a Wild West

can't be a Nazi on social media, I don't even know why I have free speech!
Well I for one disagree
Free speech is only for those that speak in accordance with socially acceptable or popular opinions.

What do we call that? Freedom to Abuse?

This is correct.
Government officials still cannot try to get people banned on twitter for posting things they dislike. The anti free speech comes from the government collusion.
I really didn't think this was that difficult.

Exactly. Absolutely no one on this board knows what free speech means or how it practically applies to platforms like twitter.
Oh I would love to hear your thoughts on this. Please expound.

Today we have approved and unapproved speech.

Such as? Who are these awful people? And most importantly, are they still on Twitter?

I never said anything about it being a right. If I want to hit someone because of what they said and I did then I GOT to GET what I wanted. The word get has nothing to do with what’s legal.
No one here has said “It’s my right to assault you for exercising speech I don’t agree with.”

The free speech absolutists
No such thing. This is a made up term. Anyone that deals in complete absolutes is a moron. You included.

True. However, when it is at the government’s behest that is a first amendment issue. For someone who fancies themself a free speech expert, you sure don’t seem to know much about free speech.

It's really this simple.
Some tweets will still be moderated on Twitter. It's not free for all but it is so far leaps and bounds better than it was.

C'mon. Free speech does not mean the right to trample others' private property rights. Was Musk wrong to classify himself as a free speech absolutist? Maybe. I don't know why he said that. Maybe he didn't think it through.
Twitter is a business and you can't have people attacking everyone on the site with Nazi propaganda or your business will fail and he isn't required to do that for your ideals of free speech. Especially when you won't let me come to your house and insult your wife without beating me.

Whole lot of illiterate turds on TD this morning. This is the basis of this entire discussion, douchebag.

Scott Adams explained it perfectly on his podcast. I track exactly with his thinking:
