Define assault weapon first. Also include precisely what it is about an AR-15 that makes it inherently more dangerous than other less "scary looking" weapons that hold similar amounts of ammunition and fire the exact same rounds.
Exactly.

Why do you need an AR-15, an assault weapon.

I’m sure it’s already been said after 8 pages.
But why does anyone NEED the an iPhoneX
Why does anyone need a 70 inch 4K tv.
Why does anyone NEED a $80,000 car.
Why does anyone need expensive designer clothes?

??? Which of the posts of his is this supposed to be in context of? If it's the one directly above yous, that makes no sense.
Can you connect the dots?

I have all this except the designer clothes. I drive a Nissan Versa Note that I paid for in full at the dealership.
I wear khakis and button'd shirts. I'm not fancy.
I work 10 hrs a day and live within my means.
I have a retirement plan (from my contribution, not the government), savings, and I'm the happiest SOB you'll ever meet. Life in the US is a blessing.
Those who want a handout disgust me.

I'm a strong Second Amendment supporter, but what is the need for an AR-15?
You don’t 1) support 2A and 2) understand 2A.

nuts have this mental illness where they think that if AR-15s are banned that means their 12 gauge and .38 snub nose are going to be taken away.
Here’s the issue:
Define, exactly, what mechanically you wish to ban. A firearm is a mechanical devise, the function of which is determined simply by which mechanism of fire it uses.
You do realize that the evil AR15 employs the same basic mechanism of cycling as does most of the more common hunting shotguns ( ‘your 12 gauge’ above)? Also the same as most of the pistols people have. Same for many hunting rifles and the vast majority of the .22 rifles in current use. There is nothing particularly special or unusual about a semiautomatic cycling mechanism.
So, what are you proposing to ban? Simply the AR15 name?

Because, the more people that are THIS ignorant as to why we need them... means we are nearer and nearer to truly needing them.. and then one day, it will dawn on you for personal safety WHY men have chosen to defend their right to own them.

Like the saying goes "For the same reason I buy TP by the roll and not the ply, when things get unexpectedly shitty I like to be prepared.

If you want to have this conversation in reality, this is probably not the best angle to take. Public defenders are often severely overworked and outmatched against the prosecution.
This is really a poorly thought out analogy on your point.

It would be quite easy to ban the AR-15. We banned it before and people still were still able to buy shotguns and rifles for hunting and handguns for self-protection.
We ban fully automatics and you gun nuts don't complain about that. We ban grenade launchers and you gun nuts don't complain about that.

"need" is not a requirement.
Examine your own holdings, get rid of everything you don't "need" and then get back with me.

It wasn't banned. Features were banned. You could have a semi auto rifle with 2 or more features but all those feature could be on a pump or bolt action.

Shotguns kill just as many as all rifles combined. Handguns kill 20+ times more than all rifles combined a year. Handguns will 10 round magazine was used to kill 32 in Virginia Tech.

Do any of you ever read the law? No they are not banned. There is a freeze in them.
quote:

Yes we do especially given how no full auto weapon registered since 1934 has been used in a crime.

Good to know you can't differentiate a destructive device versus a bayonet lug.
