What can be done to realign their beliefs and science-denial to align closer with reality?

same reason women keep getting involved with jerks, they think they will be the one who can change them.

Socialism proponents see the ideal in their mind but fail to realize that's the only place it has ever, or will ever, exist because power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

they have to understand that "fairness", especially as a forced state, should never be the goal of a societal system

i wish you good luck in this endeavor

yeah and the problem is that to get to their utopia, force and control must be used. their assumption is that once we get done with using this force to reconstruct society, the people who gained power will give it up

this gets really fun when you talk to the "anarchists" who are really just communists. they claim anarchy because their end-game is a "stateless society" where everyone shares in the means of production (sound familiar?). ask them how you get there and things get really fun, really quickly

I think it's even simpler than that. Socialists ignore one basic fact of humanity: humans, by and large, don't want to settle for what everyone else has. They want more. They want better. They simply are not satisfied with the status quo.

Envy is one hell of a powerful emotion to overcome.

Government "educating" society doesn't help either.

Most of them either don't have the skills or are too afraid to compete in the free market.

I treat people with Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder, and let me tell you, their prognoses in terms of reality contact is much better than that of today's progressive liberal.

Because the belief in the superiority of their thoughts, beliefs, and ideals is part and parcel to being a socialist democrat. When you think about it, they really haven't come very far from their KKK days.

I say ship them in groups to places like Venezuela to live for one year, then back to the US for a one year term on the northern and southern borders. If after that they still want to be little pinkos, revoke their citizenship and send them to any communist country that will have them.

Probably because there hasn't been a real socialist/communist state in all of history.

So you're saying that every time a socialist state has been tried, it failed because "That's not real socialism"?

Well if we asked people in Venezuela right now, they could give us about 4,280 reasons. That is about the current exchange rate..
