So many problems have been almost eliminated.

Political groups need to use something to be relevant.

Even if the goal isn’t overtly to enlarge the state, it’s the predictable consequence.

As long as government (politicians) think they have authority to do something, they’ll always find a reason to use their authority. It’s how they stay relevant. It gives them purpose. It’s a despicable career choice.
