It's a product of both. They aren't defending deaths, they are denying deaths happen due to the vax. On the other side, there are so many who sit poised to blame any death on the vax.
The former happens, I believe, out of a sense of dread at the ultimate destination of travelling such a thoughtpath.
The latter happens, I believe, as over-compensation due to the still-held frustrations at being lambasted and even threatened for ever daring to even have questions about the vax (which then expresses itself as endless "I told you so" victory laps).

You’re pretending that the vaccine mandates and the shaming and bullying of people to force them to get the vaccine never happened. You’re pretending the vaccine crowd didn’t lie repeatedly to force the vaccine.
You’re ignoring cause and effect. Again, this debate never happens if one side hadn’t lied and forced the vaccine.

Whether they were in the majority or not is totally irrelevant. They had the means and the force to do so. They had the full weight of the government, executive branch, media, and medical establishment behind them.

Anti-vaxers existed prior to this one.
Anti-vaxers in this instance existed long before any mandates.
The 2nd part is what really hurts your argument. The mandate and the vax are 2 very different concepts and the anti-vax NPC talking points existed before the mandates. That's why the mandates aren't always directly on point when discussing the vax and the NPC talking points and memes flowing out of the movement (like posting every death as an implied vax death)
