Bingo. They started doing this in the early 60's, people started flooding in and within 10 years, the cities had all become cesspools.

I wouldn't be against just shutting cities down altogether, or at least letting red states take over control of the cities and ban the local governments from further destroying these places.

This is the answer. It will not be popular amongst "conservatives" but unfortunately in 2024 there are two options: cede cities to degenerates or the states take them back.

The fact is that cities...were not built by the kind of people that currently live there. Through violence, they have forced out the productive people and have effectively taken possession of cities that they were not capable of over creating themselves. New Orleans is a great example of this. The "principled conservative" will fiddle as New Orleans burns. The practical person will say "the state has vested interest in one of the most historical and important economical drivers of our state. We can take over its governership and at least give it a chance at prosperity OR stick to our "principles" and watch it fall into ruin and hurt everyone in the process.

People who find it a acceptable to live on top of each other in such a crowded and impersonal way of life are lacking something mentally, not saying they are less intelligent but certainly lacking in some way. Which answers your question. Only folks who lack critical thinking skills and the good sense God gave each of us could ever vote left.
That's the correlation. Call me simple, but I can piss off my front porch and nobody sees me, THAT is how humans were meant to dwell.
Not on top of one another, literally.

if you are a high income earner outside of a doctor you will most probably be living in a big city as thats where the big companies are and other high earning individuals that must work collaboratively together

generally speaking,

if you work in oil and gas you will be in Houston

if you work in finance you will be in NYC

if you work in tech you will be in SF

bc thats where you will physically need to be in order to collaborate and work together with your colleagues

White flight took a large portion of respectable citizens away. So that played a huge factor. But people still wanted to live in the city, because it is close to everything. So, the upper class can afford to live in the nice parts of the city. And then younger single people live there to socialize until they settle down and start families. But, they need a lot of services, and employees to serve them coffee, prepare food, fix their cars, and clean their houses. And the governments started pushing all these low income housing initiatives to supplement these people. The middle class population is shrinking, and the upper class is consolidating, so there arent enough people left to prop up these cities. So now there is small population of wealthy folk, and a ton of people that cant provide for themselves. These people need to live in the city to leach off of the wealthy folk's tax dollars. Combine that with young bleeding heart liberals that havent developed a full brain yet, and the outcasts that coulnt fit into normal society and cling to art or being gay as a way to fit in and you get cities now. Combine that with rampant drug use and ignored mental illness and here we are.

How many businesses moved out of NOLA after Katrina? The only thing NOLA has left is healthcare, tourism and some petrochemical production

Statistically speaking, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles don't make the top ten for violent crimes per capita in the US.

Because of sheer population, but Chicago is still violent enough to be #17. That's staggering.

Los Angeles
Disingenuous, seeing as how a suburb of LA, San Bernadino, is at 14. Stockton and Oakland are similarly reflective of SF.

I notice you left out Detroit.

You should actually visit these cities instead of believing what you see on the news. I've been to all three of the cities you mentioned in the last year and had a great time.

I live 25 minutes north of the KC metro, I know exactly what ails the city and it's not America First/MAGA politicians.

Heres a thought....how amazing of a city would New Orleans be if intelligent people with integrity ran it? It would be a world class city. People from all over the world would visit. It would be safe, the police force would feel supported. The citizens wouldnt have problems every month with trash and water bills. Louisiana would be the place to be, not the place everyone is desperate to leave.

I get it, America was founded on limited government. It was set up in a very specific way. The problem is that when this kind of government was set up, only productive, knowledgable and productive people were voting. Blacks on the government dole and women werent voting. Cities cant really thrive in 2024 America because the productive people have no say in how they are run. Productive people built all the nice streets and buildings...and now the low IQ leeches have taken over what their betters built

White flight. My mom and dad grew up in West End , Atlanta. Up until the 60s, it was a very nice intown neighborhood mainly with middle class families and some moderate affluence. They, like many others, moved 10-15 miles out into the sprawl that was in its infancy. As those intown homes were rapidly being abandoned, most of them were being bought by blacks looking for a better neighborhood. Within a decade, the thug culture became more and more prevalent until the once nice communities were an empty shell of what they once were. So many of the Atlanta communities suffered that fate. West End, Grant Park, Reynoldstown, etc..

I imagine the same pattern was experienced by most major cities. Some later than others.

I had a great time in brazil but I blew through every red light and stop sign after 10pm to avoid carjacking and slept behind tall concrete walls topped with razor wire and electric fencing
