Why did the DeSantis campaign take the tact to attack and fight MAGA?

Instead they should have planted the flag on America First and said we can do better and we welcome you to come on board with a better version of America First.
That is the message the Vivek is selling and the reason he is still on the stage despite being an unknown before declaring for president on the GOP side.

Trump started it with his childish Ron Desanctimonious. Ron should stick with what he believes, acknowledge Trump's childish comments as childish comments, tout the good things Trump did, and criticize the things he did wrong.
