Do you honestly believe that we weren't supporting ISIS?

I believe the previous administration largely held fire and tolerated certain elements in the region with the goal of mounting pressure on Assad. But you and the OP have yet to present any compelling evidence that Salim Idris had ISIS links as is suggested in the very first post of this thread.

Previous administration couldn't do anything with the IS for damn near a decade. Trump gets in office and the IS in Syria is nearly wiped out... with the same military.

Y'all need to realize WHY it was this way. It is not as if Obama and the deep state didn't know how to win a war against IS. What happened under obama wasn't a lack of know-how, they were accomplishing exactly what they wanted to accomplish.

Just stop this garbage. Doesn’t matter what side of the isle you’re on. As someone who watched his father take his last breath as a result of lung cancer less than a year ago, you and all these ****s making McCain’s death a political issue is just pathetic. I despised his views as much as you do, especially what he’s done over the past decade, but he’s not a fricking demon and clearly you’ve never experienced any real life tragedy, like the death of your best friend.

This is dumb on many levels.

First off, ISIS and al-Qaeda are not the same organizations.

Second, you present no evidence that anyone in the photo is associated with either organization.

Third, you can be damn sure that if McCain thought Idris had any association with either ISIS or al-Qaeda, he wouldn't have been caught dead in a photo with him.

What other nonsense do you fall for? Would you like to buy some beachfront property I have in Arizona?

Seriously, how do you get confused between ISIS, al-Qaeda, and the Syrian Free Army?

It's almost like McCain just wasn't a good dude.

It's like posting a picture of a US Senator from WW2 posing with the leader of the Free French Army, captioned that it's in support of Mussolini (no supporting evidence, just a claim), and titling the thread "Why is Sen. Smith posing with Hitler?"

Some of these people need help tying their shoelaces.

It was just reported in the news a couple of weeks ago about our government's support of al Qaeda.

Whether any of you want to believe it or not our government supports bad guys.

Hell last year department of defense backed "rebels" were fighting CIA backed "rebels" but hell no we don't support ISIS or al Qaeda.

It's fricking hilarious.

The cat was let out of the bag in Jordan when the Afghan security guard opened fire at members of a green beret team that was in Jordan to train fighters who to a man joined ISIS as soon as they walked out the gate.

In addition, Trump is helping the Saudis commit genocide in Yemen.

Is that an excuse for genocide?

Proxy wars against Iran?

I think that's kind of the point. Again and again we end up backing questionable characters...
