I’m trying to figure out their strategy here.

Are they going to cut a deal with McCarthy to vote for him for speaker?

I pray the Republicans come together and vote for a Speaker with a fricking spine that’s willing to go scorched Earth on the left and deep state.

This would certainly not be good.

Republicans will need another speaker. Hope they pick a good one

Why would they vote to keep him? They don't like McCarthy any more than Gaetz does. They're perfectly happy sitting back and let the Republicans tear themselves apart trying to pick a new Speaker.

McCarthy screwed over the democrats on several issues too. Also, Democrats want one of their own as speaker, and if the "burn it all down" group of Republicans can't agree with the rational Republicans on a speaker, someone may break ranks and vote for a Democrat.

Chaos. They were lock step. Republicans step on their dick. Eight Rs and 208 Ds sounds like a win for the Ds to me. I didn't want McCarthy from the jump, but once he got it, we live with it. More important stuff that needs to be done.

They are going to soon tell us this; how can you rely on the Republicans to run the country when they can’t get their act together and choose their leader?

If this was a positive for republicans in any possible way they wouldn’t have voted for it. Trust me, they didn’t vote for this to help Matt Gaetz push the Republican party to the right.

They didn't like McCarthy either and now the GOP infighting over who will be the new Speaker will distract voters and pull the attention off the border crisis, Hunter and Joe's corruption, inflation and the economy.

They are hoping to get an even more moderate Republican who will not listen to the conservatives.

The strategy is to force a shutdown in November after the CR expires, so they can blame republicans for not passing a budget in the next election cycle.

The Dems view McCarthy as untrustworthy and useless.

They think Jeffries has an outside shot at the speakership.

McCarthy is done, his political career is over. He needs to give up, because he will never get the votes he needs If he got Dem votes to be elected, there would be too many deals and compromises. Jeffries would be the Speaker because he could oust McCarthy anytime he wants. McCarthy has to step aside and let someone else be the Speaker.

He already did that- with his GOP associates. He broke his promises and jumped in bed with the enemy.
