But for some reason we can’t separate those great Christian values from religion. In the future with the advent of the internet (look at me with a fancy word), so why not grow the Republican party through values instead of belief?
I can
Why are you bigoted against religious people?

In no way does that make Rome the founder of Christianity. It had already been established for a couple of hundred years.

You should really read Mere Christianity.

The Council of Rome only made these decisions for a local/regional church not the entire Christian church across the world at that time
I mean it's the same bible you have today, and other places reinforced the list, so I'm not sure I understand the distinction.
It was done to claim those who used other books were false in order to force all Christians to the same books.
Perhaps they were right, I don't know. But I know they basically picked and choose what Christianity is today.

Yes I am aware of this. Rome took an established faith and made themselves the "law", making a lot of unilateral decisions. That's why people left the church in protest. I am also a protestant.
In no way does that make Rome the founder of Christianity. It had already been established for a couple of hundred years.
But there was no single Christianity and what not before them. They argued what they did was needed in order to prevent Christianity from fracturing because of the different groups having different things.
And today most people don't even know these other books exist/existed or that people thought differently.
And of course, there is the Council of Nicaea called by Emperor Constantine to determine the relationship between Jesus and God to say Jesus was God. Which was debated before then.
That might be the biggest turning point in Christianity.
These seem like clear cut cases of Romes influence on things to me. Not to mention the huge amount of influence and the increase in numbers due to those things among the Roman citizens.

The Council of Rome dictated what became the 73 books of the Bible in the Catholic Church
the Orthodox church while using the same New Testament since the writtings were so recent
They differ on the old
so the Council of Rome did NOT decide what was in the bible for all Christians
Council of Rome simply rejected the gnostic gospels
Why is it that you object to the gnostic Gospels not being included in the Bible for Christians,,

The fact that people disagreed on things does not mean there wasn't one single Christianity. Christianity is defined by believing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Any argument that claimed that Jesus was not God was an argument against the very words of Jesus.
The Roman Catholic church added in doctrine that is not in the Bible, and even took out the 2nd commandment and split the 10th commandment into two.
They certainly had influence, some positive, and I would argue much negative. But this does nothing to say that Christian values came from Roman values, which is the comment that person made that I responded to. It was an absurd statement. Rome did not believe in Christian values. The apostles gave their lives in spreading the word of God into Rome and other places. Rome doesn't get to claim being the starting place of Christianity, some 300 years after Jesus.

Ok, in that case:
I'm not deciding you're retarded, I'm simply rejecting the notion you have intelligence.
Playing with semantics is a liar's tool.
That was the bible and Christianity for over 1000 years and is still the bible and Christianity for many.
And they killed people who went against it for the majority of that time for treason.
I don't really care about the gnostic gospels directly; I'm not a Christian. I am pointing out these things were largely decided by government authorities. I can understand why you wish to pretend that's not your history, but that is what happened and you likely wouldn't be Christians today if not for that.
But I guess you can claim it was multiple choice if it makes you feel better.

The Catholic church is not the only Christian Church

Let says I'm teaching a history class. There isn't an official book, but there are multiple books about different events in history. I look at those books and then I decide which of them I wish to use in my class.
Now I am in no way writing those books or deciding what they say. But when they contain contradictory claims and such, I am most definitely deciding which version is taught and I most definitely control the narrative and future understanding of those I teach.

Is my assumption your ancestors were from western Europe where it dominated incorrect?

Because atheism has nothing to offer. All it does is tear down- it’s incapable of building anything. It’s an intellectual achievement- it’s an emotional deficiency.

Even though your comment wasn't directed at me, I feel compelled to respond to this:
Rome didn't write the Bible. They had an opinion on which books to accept. Most of those books were common sense inclusions into the canon. But not everyone agreed on every book, nor many other issues, which is why there was a split in 1520. The idea that we wouldn't be Christians if it weren't for the Roman Catholic church is absurd, considering we left the catholic church because of their corruption, and have existed apart from them for over 500 years. They made themselves the authority rather than allowing the Bible to stand on its own authority.
No one needed them, they just needed the word of God, and when the Roman church decided it was God and ruled with an iron fist, many people thought for themselves and left.

What you are saying is no doubt what they intended, as they very much wanted to be in control, including making things up that weren't Biblical. But people accepted only what they believed was consistent with the whole of scripture AS scripture. Disagreement, therefore, did not cease with the Catholic church deciding what they thought was best. That is, once again, why the split ultimately happened. If our Christianity depended on the decrees of the Roman Catholic church, every one of us would be Catholics.

I'm a PK my dad was an Assembly of God pastor My grandfathers were Assembly of God and Methodist ministers
my uncles were Assembly of God in pentecostal ministers
Cousins Non denominational
we had a collection of Bible translations in our home, including a Russian Synodal Bible,,
my Bible usualy had 66 books the catholic bible has 73
so you tell me how one church decided for all Christendom, the book
since mine generally had fewer books that the Rome Council said it should and even that one left out the gnostic which were used in seveal Churches in Africa, Near East Midle East, Europe..

outside, it looks like cult that requires belief in listening to an insane man recite crazy passages on Sundays
Why are you concerned what other people think, or how things look? You can't control what people think, no matter how hard you try. You could be a selfless angel and be despised, or a selfish prick and be worshipped. Knowing this - what principles are you personally dedicated to for life, no matter the consensus of public opinion? What will give you the strength, courage, and fortitude to stand firm in those beliefs - are you willing to die for it? What is the source of those foundational principles for you that cannot be shaken? What do you truly fear?

The difference in books is always related to the Old Testament, not the New Testament.

But the influence is still there.
I mean we can go further into other splits as well, but they all seem to be influenced from the same direction with minor differences in views.
I mostly call it the religion of Paul.
