OP is right.

Texas is a giood case. Patrick started Bible thumping and now all hemp products are gone. Christians call it a win, but most voters anf the average person thinks that the conservative Christian bloc went too far. And it just might cost the state in the midterms.

Oklahoma is another example. We are stuck with one of the worst Senators in DC. Why? Because he's a "good Baptist preacher baw" which is total bullshite. He covered up hundreds of rapes and sexual assaults at Falls Creek, which is the largest Baptist summer camp in the United States. Total shitshow. But low IQ social conservatives live that he is a Baptist. Even though i wouldn't trust him to walk my dog or take out the trash.

I don't need a group of people telling me what and how I should do things and I'm very suspicious of groups that require membership. Get a group of people together in an echo chamber and they can come up with some ridiculous bullshite. I'm not a member of a church, a political party or any other organization (for example VFW even though I'm a veteran).

No. Adhering to a moral rule makes you obedient to it. It doesn't make the rule true or binding.

If something is objectively wrong, then it is wrong even for the person who rejects the rule.

A murderer doesn't cease to be morally obligated not to murder simply because he doesn't adhere to that moral principle.

If the obligation only becomes binding when the individual accepts or follows it, then we're back to subjective morality: it binds me because I accept it, but it doesn't necessarily bind someone who doesn't.

What I'm asking is what makes the obligation apply to him even when he rejects it.

My answer is that the Christian view grounds moral obligation ultimately in the nature of God.

I disagree … I don’t think no religion does this… I think moral obligation more so comes from common decency and fear of real world consequences

And you would be wrong, there is no morality without Christian principles. It really doesn’t matter how many words you type arguing otherwise

Because Conservatives espouse and profess traditional values. Values that flow from "The Truth" as presented to us 2000 years ago by a poor itinerant Jewish preacher who lived in the Roman occupied region of ancient Palestine.

The name of that Jewish preacher is Jesus Christ (hint: he's still with us). He was crucified between two thieves because he would NOT distance himself from his radical position that Yahweh (aka God, Allah) came to die for all sinners who choose to follow him (plus his assertion that he was the Son of God).

Truth, what is that? - Pontius Pilate

I know you fancy yourself as being “intelligent” but the concept of sin is a concept derived from the Christian/Law of Moses God. Surely, someone with your vast intellect can understand that but probably not. Your goofy “smarter than everyone else” shtick is comical and only you believe it

You're retreating from the argument. We've already gone over why “common decency” and fear of consequences don't answer the question of what makes something objectively wrong. Repeating them doesn't make them any less inadequate.

And with that, I'm out. I can rest easy knowing I gave it a fair shot.

Assuming arguendo that I agree with this statement about sin, so what? That’s not the same concept that you previously stated, and which I referred to as being retarded.

So let me get this straight, Jesus came back to die for our sins so we can go to Heaven? Did his death open up some type of portal or something?

How does that even make sense?

Rome basically picked the books you accept in the bible. The Council of Rome produced a list of 73 books.
This has nothing to do with the Roman Empire.

in a sense

Jesus is the Son of God, part of the Trinity, so the embodiment of God,
Jesus sacrificed his human life as an atonement for our sins . So that we may be in the presence of God for eternity; there can be no blot, no imperfection in God's presence
Because humans are sinners, we're born in it. We do it every day, probably up until the moment of our death.

But accepting or recognizing that Jesus is the Son of God and that he did sacrifice his life so that we could be forgiven of our sins that's all he's asking of us That's it Just to accept that truth as truth

Once you do that, because you know it's truth, you feel it in your heart and soul. And you try to be the type of person that Jesus was. None of us come even remotely close, but we're better people because of it'

cause we try

we fall short, but we keep trying

Here it is, the I am wiser than everyone else on religious beliefs guy. Ok, you don’t believe in God or Jesus? Awesome, what is your point? By the way, if you understood Christianity as much as you claim then you would know that under the Law of Moses, sins were atoned through animal sacrifices by the High Priest. Since no man could keep all of the Law, Jesus became that sacrifice for all not some magical portal. Lol, seriously you should just stop sharing your thoughts in public
