re: Why can’t we separate Conservative values from religion?

It’s only “retarded” in your mind because you have a child like intellect. Go ahead and list all the religions that teach about the consequences of sin that predate the Law of Moses. Buddhism and Hinduism likely both predate the Law but they have no concept of sin or consequence of sin. The concept of “Karma” has some semblance of it in Hinduism but that too is tied to the afterlife so you wouldn’t agree with it so it’s irrelevant.

think the argument is that morality has to be based on something, and our western morals are based on Christianity
The moral values that we collectively call "Western civilization" were forced down the throat of Christianity by the rise of a politically powerful and educated merchant class which eventually expanded to become the modern middle class. Do you believe slavery is wrong? Is child rape wrong? Is literal genocide wrong? Is it wrong to sell dispensations allowing personal depravity by the powerful? Christianity was dragged kicking and screaming to those conclusions. It's free market capitalism that produced the bourgeoisie values of fair play, equality before the law, private property, equality of women. The dimwitted dirtbag Foo The Pharisee will still defend child rape to this day. Wanna see him do it?
That powerful voice demanding consistent standards is the difference between Christianity and Islam.

Your problem is that you’re not separating the concepts of morality and sin. I’m ignoring your personal insults. They’re not very suitable for someone who likely thinks of themselves as a good Christian.

Never thought of myself as a good Christian but I am fully aware of what it teaches unlike the faux experts and there is no separating sin from morality except in your mind

So no non-Christian society has ever had any concept of morality. Got it.
Like I said, it’s a retarded statement, but Rip Tomer has spoken.

It's obvious your just being a troll. Probably an alter or a bot.
Laws, norms and accepted morals apply to everyone living within them, whether they accept it or not. If they choose to violate those, they pay the consequence for their actions. This is simple and not as complicated as you attempt to make it. IMHO

Then how did religions/philosophies that had no contact with Christianity or Judaism create similarly-mapped concepts of morality?
Posted on 8/29/26 at 3:51 pm to VooDude
Because conservative values are based on Christianity.

Because conservative values are based on Christianity.
The Romans did an awful job of limiting the Christian population. Mowing the grass was long overdue.

How often have you suffered a witch to live? The secular value is that the old crazy woman has a right to life that can only be taken by a jury and not by a parasitic churchman who has never worked a day in his life. How is that not the Conservative value?

Christian morality is to do whatever the deity says in that moment. Sometimes killing babies is good and divinely commanded and other times it’s not. It’s based on shared blood guilt… one person sins and the whole tribe is guilty and needs to be saved. And they can also sacrifice a person to pay for the sins of others rather than each person being responsible for their own actions.
What? Christian morality and values, without referring to a specific religion, is based on biblical principles. You have a very poor understanding of the New Testament

Is God eternal and unchanging? Maybe there was a secret God swap between the Old and the New and the petty, jealous, rapey child of the Old Testament was deposed? Which book is that in?

The New Testament replaces the old legal and sacrificial system of the Old Testament by establishing a superior New Covenant centered on grace and faith in Jesus Christ.
Hebrews, Ephesians, Galatians and Romans for starters

So God himself underwent a fundamental change?

Why can't we send liberals to Canada?
